Today has been a good day for Cameron. He played with Mommy and sat in his Bumbo chair for a little while. Currently he was smiling wide and playing with Daddy as I was trying to put Cameron back on the vent for C-PAP and take him off of the Trach Collar, but Cameron would not let go of the tubing from the Trach Collar, like he was trying to tell me that he wanted to do more with the Trach Collar. At this time, Cameron is due for his bath and the trach care from there Cameron will go to bed, and so will I. Keep reading till I write again.

It is good to be finally home, yet it was a restless night for us, as we both (me more so than Mandy) wanted to get up and check on Cameron every time I heard the monitors go off, forgetting that we have a nurse to help us out. I think that it will take us some getting used to. As we prepare for the second day home and awaiting for the nurse to come in today, Mandy and I are playing with Cameron as he is currently in his swing and watching a Baby Einstein video. We will both get another training on the equiptment later today so that we may know how it works and be able to trouble shoot most of the problems that may arrise with the vent and such. Also as we prepare for our next great adventure of the MDCP stay next week, please continue to keep us in your prayers. Keep reading till I write again.

Today has been a great and busy day for Cameron. Today Cameron made the BIG journey home, yes HOME. We left Health Bridge Children's Hospital after lots of delays such as last minute immunizations as well as medications and discharge information. Cameron took an ambulance ride home and then we got settled home with the nurse and the RT guy training us on some of the new equipment. Cameron is settling into the new home environment and still smiling and enjoying all the attention he is getting. We had some visitors stopped by, Thank you Daicia for all that you have done for us. Thank you Paula for coming by and checking in on Cameron. Thank you all for the many prayers. Many thanks and praises to GOD for the many blessings that we have. All I can say is "God is good all the time, and All the time God is good." -

Today has been a good day for Cameron. He is playing right now with a toy and enjoying it. Also Cameron just completed another 12 hours of trach collar trials and he did good. Tuesday, July 13, 2010 7:56 PM, CDT
Today has been a good and busy day for Cameron. 1st off Cameron went to see Dr. Moore about the progress with the fundo and the Doctor reported good things so far. Currently Cameron is completing 12 hours straight of Trach Collar trials and doing well. Then Mandy came home, with the help from Bammel Members, for a bit to accept some of the medical equipment for Cameron when he comes home. It seems that there is a glitch and there is not an order for his trach collar supplies at this time, but hopefully something that can be remedied soon. On the way home, Mandy called and checked on Cameron and he had pulled off the "No No" arm brace that was on Cameron to prevent Cameron from messing with his eye, and then Cameron pulled out the tubing from his eye procedure about 30 minutes earlier than scheduled. So now Cameron has some eye drops to help with that procedure for a few days. After Mandy got some training on the new equipment, Paula took Mandy back up to Health Bridge. Special thanks to Bammel and to Paula for all the help. 2 more days and counting. That is all for now, so keep reading till I write again.
Monday, July 12, 2010 7:03 PM, CDT
Today has been a busy day for Cameron. It started last night when Mandy was doing trach care when Cameron's trach came out and the RT and the nurse had to put the trach back in. Mandy had a rough night, but the morning was a bit better, and then Cameron went on his trip to visit Dr. Hitner (the eye Doctor) and the tech stated that Cameron can see okay and the Doctor suggested to help with the drainage in Cameron's eye to do a small procedure to open the duct, and they did it in the office visit and then Cameron will be on some eye antibiotics for 10 days but that should help Cameron's eye drain. Tomorrow will be the next Doctor appointment, other than that all is good. Keep reading till I write again.
Sunday, July 11, 2010 9:23 PM, CDT
Today was a good day for Cameron as he had fun playing with Mommy and Daddy. Cameron would grab Daddy's hand and then pull my hand to his mouth and then chew and lick my hand and fingers. They must have tasted good, because he did this for a while, lol. Mandy and I are getting Cameron's room all in order and buying a few last minute things to help make caring for Cameron easier. Tomorrow Mandy will have another transport with Cameron to visit Dr. Hinter, the eye doctor to see how Cameron's eye's are doing at this time. Also this is where we will address the eye drainage issue with Cameron with the Dr. We are still working on the MDCP program with the nursing home stay still. Other than that the count down continues with 4 days to go.
Saturday, July 10, 2010 10:41 PM, CDT
Today has been a very busy yet a good day for Cameron. Today Cameron did 10 hours of Trach Collar trials (5 hours trach collar,l 3 hours break and then 5 hours trach collar). Today Cameron also had a very special visitor as Uncle Kevin came by to see him with, Granmaja, Big Papa, and his favorite Uncle Boo. Cameron seemed a bit tired and sleepy when they came by but is seems that Uncle Kevin found out that Cameron has a tickle spot on his foot as Uncle Kevin played with Cameron. Also when Cameron visited with the family he was doing a Trach Collar trial with just free flowing O2 and an HME - Heat Moisture Exchange (aka - artificial nose). Counting down the days till we go home - 5 days left. Keep reading till I write again.Friday, July 9, 2010 8:26 PM, CDT
Today has been a good day for Cameron. Cameron was playing and doing his baby thing. Cameron also got a surprise as his new equipment came in, the very same equipment that we will be taking home with us to use at our home. The meeting with the Nursing company (Maximum), and DME company (The Care Group), and also the team will try to have the DME company to also provide the OT/PT/Speeh Therapy for Cameron when he comes home. We got all of our questions answered at this time. As you can see all the signs are pointing towards Cameron coming home soon, which we are shooting for an anticipated discharge of next week on Thursday, the 15th of July. That's right Cameron will be coming home in 6 days. As we get ready for the next new chapter in Cameron's journey, I am reminded that "God is good all the time, All the time God is good."
Thursday, July 8, 2010 8:06 PM, CDT
Today has been a good day for Cameron. When I came up to visit with Cameron he played a bit as he tried to hold up and, I think he was reading, the plush Whinnie the Pooh book, yet all he was really doing was trying to put it in his mouth. Also Mandy was getting ready to give Cameron his bath and complete trach care by herself this evening. When I got home I got word that she was able to do it all by herself, which made me so proud of her. As we get ready for our meeting tomorrow with the Doctor, treatment team as well as the Nursing Care, and DME company, please continue to pray with, and for us. Keep reading till I write again.
Wednesday, July 7, 2010 9:31 PM, CDT
Today has been a good day for Cameron. The blood gas came back good, but also showed that Cameron is working too hard on his breathing, per the RT, so they will continue with the Trach Collar trials but break it up, into 2 sections to give Cameron a break in between also they will slow the trials down a bit, but still continue to move forward. Other than that Cameron has been playing with Mandy and enjoying the time. Today Cameron also did 8 hours on the Trach Collar trials. To all my prayer warriors out there, please continue to pray for us and especially for Cameron's continued healthy progress on the Trach Collar trials. Keep reading till I write again.
Tuesday, July 6, 2010 8:39 PM, CDT
Today has been a good day for Cameron. The Doctor changed the current feeds from continuous feeds to bolus feeds which means that Cameron will be feed every 3 hours at the amount of 105 ml over a 2 hour time frame. Cameron is tolerating the bolus feeds and so far, no vomiting nor spitting up. Also as we work out all the details of the MDCP stay for the Rider 28 program, Mandy and I are making lots of phone calls to make this happen. We are also preparing to meet with the teams this Friday to start the discharge planning, as we are looking forward to a possible discharge coming up real soon, and then going home soon. That is all for now, so keep reading till I write again.
Monday, July 5, 2010 5:46 PM, CDT
Today has been a good day for Cameron. He completed his 6 hours of Trach Collar trials today around 2 pm and his ECO2 was at 59 at the end. Cameron played with Mommy and Daddy for a while and then he fell asleep. Everything seems to be working towards Cameron getting better at this time. There are no changes at this time, so keep reading till I write again.
Sunday, July 4, 2010 8:16 PM, CDT
Today has been a good day for Cameron. He did 5 hours of Trach collar trials and his ECO2 before the trail was 51 and after the trail it was 54. When Mandy and I came by to visit Cameron all he wanted to do was to play with his toys. Cameron also has had no vomitting/spitting up so far, so it seems that the surgery worked, and we have a follow up appointment with the Surgeon soon. Other than that all is good. Happy 4th of July everyone, and special thanks to all the troops that keep us safe.
Saturday, July 3, 2010 4:19 PM, CDT
Today Cameron is having a good day. When I went to visit him Cameron was doing his 4 hours of trach collar trail and doing so good so far. Ever since the surgery Cameron has not spit up or vomited so far. Cameron also was playing with daddy and pulling on the rings that I attached to the mobile and Cameron was trying to pull the mobile down. Cameron was also smiling and enjoying some time with daddy. As we continue to work towards the nursing home stay please continue to pray for us.
Friday, July 2, 2010 10:12 PM, CDT
Today has been a good day for Cameron as he was on 3 hours of trach collar trials and doing well with low ECO2's. The doctor reported that he will increase the trach collar trials by an hour a day till we hit 12 hours of trach collar and 12 hours of c-pap. That is all for now so keep reading till I write again.
Thursday, July 1, 2010 5:47 AM, CDT
Mandy had just called me to let me know that both Cameron and her finally got a good night's sleep last night. Also She informed me that Cameron's ECO2 before his 1st Trach Collar trial was at 59 and after the trial is was at 57. Cameron's current ECO2 is a 50. Currently Cameron is playing in his crib and doing well. That is all for this early riser, who is already at work - what was I thinking about, lol....Keep reading till I write again.

Today has been a busy day for all of us. My co-workers and good friends threw me a Baby shower celebrating Cameron's soon to be homecoming. It was the best with an awesome cake. Thank you to all at KPH for all that you do to support Mandy, Cameron and I. The staff at KPH are a second family to my wife and I. Mandy and Cameron also had a very eventful day as I just got back home from visiting Cameron, and yes Cameron did get transferred back to Health Bridge Hospital today and Cameron is doing well as he is back with the nurses he knows as well as the Doctors he likes. We are starting back up with Trach Collar trials today with 1 hour a day and an increase of 1 hour a day over the next few days until we reach that of 12 hours a day of trach collar and 12 hours of C-PAP. The Doctor did report to Mandy that if everything goes well then we could possibly go home as early as in a couple of week or so. That is all for now, so keep reading till I write again.Wednesday, June 30, 2010 9:02 AM, CDT
I just got word from Mandy that the Doctor came by early this morning and increased the feeding rate from 22 ml every hour to 33 ml every hour and Cameron is tolerating it well, and now they are going to increase the caloric intake from from 20 Cal to 30 Cal and see if he tolerates this. Also Mandy informed me that Cameron will be leaving Hermann Children's today and going back to Health Bridge. That is all for now, keep reading till I write again.
Wednesday, June 30, 2010 6:05 AM, CDT
YES, last night Cameron had his 1st bowel movement after surgery, which means that his gut is working just like it's suppose to. I haven't been this excited about Cameron's "poop" in a while, since the G-tube surgery, lol. Also the Doctor did come by to ease some of Mandy's worries about how distended Cameron's stomach was as well as how Cameron looked a bit puffy. The Doctor also ordered that Cameron to start back on feeds with his formula at 20 Cal at the rate of 20 ml per hour on continuous feeds (at Health Bridge he was on 30 Cal at the rate of 33 ml per hour) and hopefully in a day or so Cameron will show the Doctors that he is tolerating everything fine and then Back to Health Bridge and finish up the weening there and then home. It is good to be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Keep reading till I write again.
Tuesday, June 29, 2010 7:06 PM, CDT
Today has been an okay day for Cameron. The doctors started Cameron on some pedialite and back on his daily regiment of meds. He is also playing around with his toys and the mobile that child life brought to us. Also Cameron had a visitor Grandma who played with Cameron a little. The doctors took Cameron off the morphine because Cameron seemed to be tolerating the pain okay and Cameron is smiling up at Mommy and Daddy as well as enjoying his time at Hermann as some of the past NICU staff came by to see him especially yesterday with Dr. Khan, Kim Cole, and Kitty Kelly and today both Kim and Kitty came by to visit as well. That's all for now, so keep reading till I write again.
Monday, June 28, 2010 7:56 PM, CDT

The doctor reported that she wants Cameron to be admitted at Hermann Children's for a few days to make sure Cameron's gut is working and that Cameron tolerates his feedings as well as has a bowel movement. Also they want to watch for any infections that may occur. That is all for now I will post more after Cameron gets into his room.Monday, June 28, 2010 3:05 AM, CDT

Please keep us in your prayers for tomorrow's surgery. That is all for now so keep reading till I write again.
Saturday, June 26, 2010 11:10 AM, CDT
Today Cameron was woken up by the Resident Doctor and she came in and check on Cameron. Today Cameron sat in his new Whinnie the Pooh swing that Daddy spent about an hour and half putting together. I wish that I had spent more time paying attention in Spanish class, due to the factor that there were no instructions in English, lol. Cameron loved the new swing. Also at this time Cameron is sleeping, and earlier he was told that his Uncle Kevin is in town and Cameron can't wait to see him. As we get ready for the up and coming surgery, please continue to pray for Cameron, Mandy and I. Keep reading till i write again.
Friday, June 25, 2010 11:01 PM, CDT
Today Cameron had an okay day and swung on his swing for a bit. Cameron also had some fun with Mommy and then when Daddy came by and visited Cameron played peek-a -boo with Daddy then he got bored and then Cameron grabbed at Daddy's glasses and pulled them off of my face. Then Cameron did vomit/spit up around 10:45 tonight, but did settle down and sleep. Good night all, good night son. Keep reading till I write again.
Thursday, June 24, 2010 7:28 PM, CDT
Today has been a good day for Cameron as he played with Mommy today and he was in his blue chair building up his neck and trunk muscles. We also got the good news that Cameron does not have an infection at the trach/stoma site. Also Cameron's surgery was confirmed for Monday 6/28/10 and we have to be there around 5:30 am so Cameron and us will be heading over to Herman Children's Hospital at 4:30 am for the up and coming fundo surgery. To all my prayer warriors out there, please pray for Cameron and the surgery to have good results with fast recovery, for wisdom for the surgeons and the team working on and with Cameron, and peace for Mandy and I as we prepare for the surgery as well as after the surgery. That is all for now, so keep reading till I write again.Wednesday, June 23, 2010 8:19 PM, CDT
Today has been an okay day for Cameron. He played with Mommy a bit and sat in his big blue chair and then Cameron went into the Bumbo for a bit. Mandy informed me that the Speech Therapist introduced the formula that Cameron is on to Cameron in his mouth by way of the Speech Therapist's gloved fingers and per Mandy Cameron liked it and wanted more, as it seemed that he could not get enough of the formula. Also Mandy checked with the case worker for the MDCP program and we were informed that we have been given the green light to go stay in the nursing home type facility to finish the application process. All the case worker needs is a letter and a form filled out by the Doctor and Mandy informed this to the Health Bridge case worker. Other than that all is good. Keep reading till I write again.Tuesday, June 22, 2010 8:34 PM, CDT
Today has been a good day for Cameron. Mandy went and saw Dr. Moore the surgeon and got more information about the up coming surgery. The Doctor stopped the T-Collar trials for now until after the surgery. I went down to see Cameron and Mandy and Cameron played with Daddy for a while but got bored with Daddy and wanted to play with his toy elephant. All is good for now, so keep reading till I write again.
Monday, June 21, 2010 6:31 PM, CDT
Today has been a good day for Cameron. For starters, the Doctor lowered the T-Collar trials to 3 hours once a day from 3 hours twice a day due to his VBG CO2 (blood gas) being high at 76. The Doctor also wants to get a chest x-ray to see if Cameron has some fluid around his lung area, due to his urine output is low that may be causing his blood gas CO2 to be high. The nurse also took a swab of Cameron's trach area, the stoma site and will see if there is a possible infection. Other than that Cameron today worked with the Speech Therapist today and had another try with tasting lemon flavoring and Cameron loved this so much that he wanted more as he sucked on the Speech Therapist's gloved fingers, which is good, due to the factor that last time he tried this Cameron didn't like it and he vomited up alot, this time he only spit up some saliva. And that is a good sign that may be Cameron can graduate to some solid foods soon, but it will be a slow process. To all my prayer warriors out there, please pray for Cameron to not have an infection so that the surgery can continue as plan, and please pray for Mandy as she meets with the Surgeon tomorrow to ask questions about the up and coming surgery. That is all for now, so keep reading till I write again.
Sunday, June 20, 2010 8:57 PM, CDT
Today was a good day for Cameron as he celebrated Father's Day by trying to kiss Daddy and only licking Daddy sveral times on the check. Other than that Cameron did vomit/spit up some today, but he did have some fun with the RT, Mary and the nurse. Tonight also Mandy is back at Health Bridge full time with Cameron. That is all for now, so keep reading till I write again.
Saturday, June 19, 2010 10:24 PM, CDT
Today was a good day for Cameron. He did his T-Collar trial early this morning and he did real well with a ECO2 of 52. When Mandy and I got there, Cameron was tugging at Mandy's heart strings as he was crying due to the factor that he misses Mandy and wanted his Mommy. We played with Cameron some, and enjoyed some time with him. Also after we had left Cameron got a surprise visit from Granmaja, Big Papa and Uncle Boo. That is all for now, so keep reading till I write again.
Friday, June 18, 2010 6:54 PM, CDT
Today was a good and bad day for Cameron. For today Cameron got his 12 month immunization shots and he didn't like it and he cried so there is the bad part of the day, but I swear that Cameron's attention span is so short, because all the nurse had to do was give Cameron his paci and immediately he stopped crying, so now it was a good day. Also tonight Mandy found out that Cameron's ECO2 before the T-Collar trial was at 52. Currently he is playing with all the new toys that he got for his birthday, and enjoying it with all the bright lights and all the loud, loud sounds that they make. Now I just need to find out how to take out all the batteries before he comes home, lol... That is all for now, so keep reading till I write again.
Thursday, June 17, 2010 8:53 PM, CDT
Yesterday Cameron had a wonderful time with his Birthday party. He got lots of clothes and toys that light up and makes lots of sounds, (groan), lol. Cameron also got his first taste of birthday cake yesterday and he seemed to like it. Cameron, Mandy and I would like to say Thanks to all those that sent Birthday wishes to Cameron, we all enjoy them so very much. Today Cameron has been playing with some of his toys and I am busy washing all of his new clothes so that he can sport them around. Also Cameron did his T-Collar trial and both of the ECO2, before and after the trial were the same at 55. Although this is true there will be no changes at this time as the Doctor does not want to stress Cameron out before the up coming surgery. That is all for now, so keep reading till I write again.

Today has been an okay day for Cameron. He got to ride in the ambulance again, but today he did it with his car seat. Cameron seemed to enjoy that very much. Also the appointment went well with the anesthesiology team. We first found out that the surgery was going to be this Friday 6/18, but later Mandy found out that the surgery got moved to Monday 6/28, and Dr. Moore (the surgeon) wants to talk with Mandy and I on Tuesday, 6/22 before the surgery. Other than that all is good, and Cameron got a visit from Grandma as she came by early to play with Cameron and also to drop off some early Birthday presents for Cameron. As we prepare for the up coming surgery please continue to pray for us for strength and peace. Also as we prepare for Cameron to turn 1 tomorrow let us all celebrate as Cameron (our miracle baby) has over come "the odds" as many Doctors have said, but I like to look at it as God has blessed Mandy and I, and through the works of prayers, Cameron is now turning 1 tomorrow. Keep reading till I write again.Monday, June 14, 2010 6:17 PM, CDT
Today has been a great day for Cameron so far. His CO2 from the VBG was at 69, so the Doctor reported that they are not going to make any change to the T-Collar trials at this time. Although this is staus quo, Cameron got a surprise. As an early birthday present, Cameron got his Kid Kart medical stroller, and it looks great. That is all for now, so keep reading till I write again.Sunday, June 13, 2010 10:11 PM, CDT
Today has been an okay day for Cameron. Mandy and I went up to visit Cameron and he had just got done vomiting/spitting up, and had just gotten a bath and everything. On a good note, Cameron got to sit in his brand new car seat for the 1st time today as we adjusted the straps and as I tried to figure the car seat thing out. I will say I can see how these car seats are really safe for children, because you don't go anywhere as parents who are not mechanically inclined, like me, spend about an hour or so trying to figure out how to loosen the harness straps, lol. Also the electrician came by today and installed the transfer switch pannel to the house and so we are set if we loose power at the house and Cameron is home. Other than that all is well. That is all for now, so keep reading till I write again.
Saturday, June 12, 2010 8:08 PM, CDT
Today has been a good day for Cameron. He did vomit/spit up today, but he still did real well with the T-Collar trials so far and his ECO levels are still with in range. Today Mandy got to change the trach twice as she popped off a section of the inflation cuff, that should not have came off. Also both of us got to learn how to take out and replace Cameron's G-button (AKA the Mic-Key button) that is in his stomach and that connects to his G-tube for his feeds and his medications.
Other than that all is well. Keep reading till I write again.Thursday, June 10, 2010 9:06 PM, CDT - 5 days to his 1st birthday!
Today has been a good day for Cameron. Cameron had some special visitors today. Auntie Paula came by and played with Cameron and he sure enjoyed it. Also Rob Shoemaker from our church (Bammel CoC) came by and visited with Mandy and Cameron as well. The Doctor and the RT has been working with Cameron on the weeing of the C-PAP to T-Collar and currently Cameron is on T-Collar trials for 3 hours twice a day for a total of 6 hours a day and his ECO2 is staying under 60 at this time. Also Cameron is currently weighing in at 6.755 kg which is about 14.89 lbs. That is all for now, so keep reading till I write again.

Today has been an okay day for Cameron and Mandy. Today Cameron did vomit/spit up some , and his Trach Collar trials are still set at 1 hour twice a day and Cameron's ECO2 is starting to go down to a normal rage for Cameron now. So now we await for the Doctors and Surgeons to arrange for a time where Cameron can go in and have this fundo surgery done. Cameron does have an anesthesia consult on Tuesday of next week. And as we prepare for the up coming surgery Mandy is stressing about Cameron's up and coming 1st Birthday. WOW, time has flown by and Cameron will be 1 in a few days and in a few years he will be in school, and then driving a car. It just seemed like the other day that Cameron was born. There seems to be some truth in the fact that once you have children they grow up so quickly. I wish I could just freeze time at this point and Cameron will always be the little Cameron I know, and for him not to grow older, lol....I better stop my rambling, and get ready for bed, but before I do.....To all my prayer warriors out there, please pray for Cameron and that the results of the up comming surgery is a good one, and for Mandy and I for Wisdom, Guidance, and Peace as we not only prepare for the surgery but also as we Celebrate Cameron's 1st Birthday.
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 10:05 PM, CDT
Today has been an good day for Cameron but an up and down day for Mandy. Cameron got to play with Mommy and have some fun today. We found out that the surgeon reported that Cameron will need to have the Fundo surgery and the treatment team is trying to work things out to have Cameron's surgery soon, so he can come home after some time for recovery. On a brighter note we found out that Cameron's new Kid Kart specialized stroller is in and will be delivered to Cameron on Monday. We also found out that we have been approved for the MDCP program that can help provided lots of care for Cameron when he comes home. So the next step is to work with the treatment team about having Cameron stay in a nursing home type facility for 24-48 hours to finish up this process. That is all for now, when I get more information I will blog then. Until then keep reading till I write again.Monday, June 7, 2010 8:21 PM, CDT
Today has been a good day for Cameron. Today he had some special visitors from Mineola. Poppie & Shirley, Big Pappa, Granmaja, and Craig, Gayna, Amanda, Kenny, Keith, Heather, Chad, Frankie, Laura & her husband and daughter. Cameron had some fun with the family and had some excitement as well. It seems that both Mandy and Cameron enjoyed the time spent with everyone that even this evening Cameron is still smiling up at Mandy and the nurses. That is all for now, so keep reading till I write again.

Today has been a good day for Cameron so far. When Mandy and I got there, Cameron was already up and playing around. Then Mandy and I gave Cameron a bath and did trach care with Cameron. Cameron also sat in his Bumbo for a little while and then Cameron also sat in the big blue chair to help Cameron work on his neck muscles and trunk muscles. That is all for now, sp keep reading till I write again.
Saturday, June 5, 2010 10:26 PM, CDT
Today was an okay day for Cameron. Mandy and I played with Cameron on the floor and on the tummy time mat for about 2 and 1/2 to 3 hours and Cameron had a good time. Cameron was trying to crawl but it looked like a swimming motion and boy did it look funny. But I guess Cameron didn't think it was funny as Cameron drooled on me and snotted on me when I had Cameron on my chest and tummy for daddy and Cameron tummy time. When we got Cameron back to his room he was all tuckered out that he just slept. That is all for now so keep reading till I write again.

Today has been a long day for both Cameron and Mandy. They both went for Cameron's Upper GI test and it seems per the tech the did the test that Cameron does have some significant reflux, but to what degree we won't know until the PH probe test results comes back. Due to this news Mandy seemed to take that very hard. At this time Mandy did come home to get a good nights rest. On a better note, Mandy and I did go ahead and by a car seat for Cameron because the nursing staff, RT and EMS worker suggested that we do so that way we can transport Cameron much easier and have him elevated in the process. Thanks to the many responses about the car seat decision, and special thanks to Hilary for the suggestion and the great website that helped us make our final decision. Mandy and I did decide on and got the Graco My Ride as it was the best for his situation. That is all for now, keep reading till I write again.
Thursday, June 3, 2010 8:55 PM, CDT
Today has been a good day for Cameron so far. He got to have the PH Probe taken out today and we should get the results with in a few days. Cameron did vomit/spit up some after the probe was removed from him. Also Cameron did get to play with Mommy a bit and he did get to sit in his Bumbo twice today. Also the Health Bridge staff reports that Cameron will need a car seat soon, so Mandy and I will have the joy of looking for one this weekend. If any of ya'll (And yes I said Ya'll, lol) have any suggestions for a good car seat for Cameron, just let me know. Thanks, and keep reading till I write again.Wednesday, June 2, 2010 8:36 PM, CDT
I got word from Mandy that Cameron went for his apointment to have the PH probe put in and he did fine. In fact per Mandy Cameron got back to Health Bridge and was playing around with Mandy. Also Per Mandy Cameron did vomit/spit up once so far. That is all for now, so keep reading till I write again.
Tuesday, June 1, 2010 8:27 PM, CDT
Today has been a good day for Cameron so far. He did vomit/spit up again per Mandy and it also seems that Cameron is starting to gain some weight here and there, which is a good sign that he is getting better. I got word from Mandy that when it was time for Cameron to go to bed and "go nite nite" Cameron just wanted to play with Mommy and smile at her, lol. As Cameron and Mandy prepare for tomorrow's PH probe test, please pray for Cameron and Mandy for this will be a difficult day for us all. With this test and the Upper GI test schedualed on Friday, will determine if Cameron will need the Fundo surgery to help stop the vomiting/spit up and all or will it be managable with medications at home. That is all for now, keep reading till I write again.Monday, May 31, 2010 5:48 PM, CDT
Just got home after visiting Cameron. The Doctor is still allowing Cameron to do the T-Collar trials but he has moved Cameron from the 2 hours twice a day back down to 1 hour twice a day. That is all for now, keep reading till I write again.
Monday, May 31, 2010 6:21 AM, CDT
I just got word this morning from Mandy that the nurse did a blood gas this morning and his CO2 went up to 76, which is outside the safe parameters that the Doctor has put into place. So at this time we will wait and see what the Doctor says about this and go from there. Keep praying and keep reading till I write again.Sunday, May 30, 2010 5:22 PM, CDT
Today has been a good day for Cameron so far. Cameron was on T-collar early this morning with a starting CO2 of 57 and an ending CO2 of 60. At this time the Doctor reported to us that he will not be making any changes to the T-Collar trials so far as we await for the next two tests and apointments next week. Also Cameron was weighed and he is currently weighing in at and around the 14 lb marker, yet Cameron seems to still be fluctuating on his weight. Other than that, Mandy and I was doing our CPR class at Health Bridge today. That is all for now, so keep reading till I write again.
Saturday, May 29, 2010 2:47 PM, CDT
Today has been a good day for Cameron so far. Per the nurse Cameron has only vomited/spit up once and wasn't that much, although during the venting Cameron had a lot of residual formula from his feeds that came up. We also learned a few new techniques on how to work with Cameron while he is on his tummy. And now it is okay to start tummy time and to be able to use the tummy time mat that Granmaja got Cameron a few months back. Currently Cameron is on his first of two trach collar trials for 2 hours. Cameron has fallen asleep during the trial and sat-ing at 100. Plus his CO2 before the trial was at 53. That is all for now so keep reading till I write again.
Friday, May 28, 2010 9:37 PM, CDT
Today has been an okay day for Cameron. He did vomit/spit up several times yesterday. Also the doctor did make a trach collar change of an increase from one hour twice a day to two hours of trach collar trials twice a day to a total of four hours of trach collar trials. Also we found out that Cameron will go to the have the ph probe test done on this up and coming Wed. as well as the upper GI test this up and coming Fri. Other than that Cameron is doing well. Keep reading till I write again.
Thursday, May 27, 2010 8:08 PM, CDT
Today has been a good day for Cameron so far. As I can tell Cameron had a slow doay with just doing T-collar trials as well as playing with Mommy and sleeping. I just called and the Nurse reported that Cameron was sleeping and doing well at this time. As they say "No news is good news." So at this time, just please continue to pray for us. Keep reading till I write again.
Wednesday, May 26, 2010 3:19 PM, CDT
I just got a call from Mandy about Cameron and so far it seems that Cameron and Mandy is having a hard day today. For starters Cameron had some blood coming out of his trach area and going into the suctioning cath a couple of times and it made Mandy a bit nervous so she went and got the nurse who reported that it may have been some blood from the stoma site when they did the silver nitrate treatment on Cameron the other day. Also Cameron vomited/spit up again (that would be number 4 so far) and today it looked a bit mucusy and the RT mentioned that the mucus like substance seems to be coming from Cameron's throat area and that it could be that Cameron has some allergies. So they are giving Cameron Claritin at this time and seeing if that helps clear some of this up. On a good note, Cameron is sleeping right now and on his trach collar trials and seems to be doing okay. Keep reading till I write again.Tuesday, May 25, 2010 5:26 PM, CDT
Today has been a very busy day for Cameron. Today Cameron went to the doctor's office to see about the fundo surgery. It seems per the doctor she wants to perform an upper gi test as well as a ph probe test. Other than that Mandy and I came back to Health Bridge with Cameron and Cameron played with Mommy and Daddy as he sat in his bumbo chair. Then we met with the MDCP nurse about evaluating Cameron for the MDCP program. Other than that all is good. Keep reading till I write again.
Monday, May 24, 2010 7:34 PM, CDT
Today has been a good day for Cameron so far. Today Cameron went and visited the ENT Doctor about the scar tissue (granuloma) around the stoma/trach site. The Doctor reported that Cameron will not need another surgery around the stoma site. The Doctor used silver nitrate to burn off what he could of the scar tissue and we will be using a steroid type cream around the stoma site to prevent any more growth. As we prepare for tomorrows appointment with the surgeons about the possibility of the fundo surgery we ask all of our prayer warriors out there to please pray for us tomorrow. I will keep everyone updated as much as I can so keep reading till I write again.
Sunday, May 23, 2010 6:46 PM, CDT
Today has been a good day for Cameron minus a few times that Cameron did vomit/spit up. Cameron also did his T-Collar Trial and his CO2 only went up by 2 point from the start to the end. Cameron also had some special visitors come by and play with him from Granmaja, Big Papa, Favorite Uncle Boo, and Grandma. They played with Cameron and enjoyed some time with him, as Big Papa is trying to teach Cameron how to kiss, just as Daddy has. Also it seems that ever since the switch to the new hypo allergenic formula, Cameron has been much more flatulent and a factory of creating dirty diapers that are so awe-fully pungent to even my allergy stuffed nose. Cameron will go to his follow up ENT appointment tomorrow to see about the stoma site and how there seems to be yet another growth of scar tissue again. Also we will prepare to meet with the Surgeons on Tuesday about the Fundo surgery and go from there. I will update when I have more information. Keep reading till I write again.Saturday, May 22, 2010 7:21 PM, CDT
Today has been a good day for Cameron. He played with Mommy and Daddy as well as he sat in the Bumbo chair for a while as well as completing his 1 hour T-Collar trial. Before the T-Collar Cameron's Co2 was 54 and after the trial it was 56 and then one hour after the trial his CO2 went back to 54. Cameron also played with Daddy as I tried to get Cameron to push himself up from a 1/2 way laying down position since he was rolling around trying to roll over. Also the Doctor reported that Cameron's white blood cells that has to do with allergies are up some, and they think that Cameron may have a possible milk allergy, so they have changed his formula at this time, and will run an allergy blood test on Monday morning to see if that has gone down. Other than that Cameron enjoyed the time that he was having with both Mandy and I. That is all for now, so keep reading till I write again.Friday, May 21, 2010 11:55 PM, CDT
Today has been a good day for Cameron. Cameron did vomit/spit up 3 times today when we had gotten there to visit Cameron. Also, per Marry the RT, Cameron's CO2 before the 1 hour t-collar trial was 54 and after the trial is was 58. Cameron is only on the 1 hour t-collar trial now because he failed earlier this week and went backwards a bit. Other than that Cameron is doing well. Keep reading till I write again.
Thursday, May 20, 2010 7:29 AM, CDT
I just got word from Mandy that she was allowed to go and sleep at another part of the hospital to try to get a good nights rest, and she was able to sleep real good. Also Mandy reported that Cameron's blood gas results came back and they are pretty decent of a CO2 at 60 and his PH is at 7.40.
Mandy, Cameron, and I want to take this time to say thank you to all those who have supported us. From the Prayers, to the monetary donations and food gift cards, to the equipment needed to "Care for Cameron." Everyone's support has helped alleviate some of our stressors, our worries, and out fears. Thank you again for all that you guys have done for Mandy, Cameron, and I.THANK YOU !!!!!Wednesday, May 19, 2010 11:28 PM, CDT
Today has been an okay day for Cameron. Mandy had called and let me know that Cameron did vomit/spit up again about 5 times today, and we are awaiting the consultation with the surgeons and the surgery. Everything is set up for Cameron to have an ENT follow up on this Monday and the Surgery consult and possible surgery on Tuesday, but more than likely per Dr. Liaw the surgery will by on a different day. But on a good note, Mandy also did find out that Cameron's Kid Kart (medical stroller/wheelchair) will get approved on Friday and then we should have it in 4 - 6 weeks. I am working with Granmaja and a few others on getting a transfer switch and a long heavy duty extension cord type plug to be able to utilize with the Generac Generator that was donated to us by Gary and the MSS team. That's all for now, keep reading till I write again.
Tuesday, May 18, 2010 9:32 PM, CDT
Today has been an okay day for Cameron. He did vomit/spit up twice today per the nurse. Cameron played with Daddy a bit when I brought Mandy back up to Health Bridge tonight and as Mandy ate dinner. Mandy also gave Cameron a sponge bath tonight before bed. That's all for now, keep reading till I write again.
Monday, May 17, 2010 11:03 PM, CDT
Today was not so good of a day for Cameron for he vomited/spit up about 9 times today. Mandy had to deal with this as well as all the cleaning up after Cameron. Although this is true, Cameron's day started to look up even though his blood gas came back a bit high, with a CO2 of 68. The Doctor felt that Cameron would be able to handle T-Collar for 2 hours today and Cameron did this. Mandy ended up being tired and exhausted from today and not sleeping very well the night before also coupled with the stressor of Cameron needing and getting another surgery that she was not doing well at the end of the day and wanted to come home. So I went to pick Mandy up and brought her home late last night and hopefully she can get some good sleep and rejuvenate herself to taking care of Cameron again. Keep reading till I write again.

Today Cameron Celebrates his 11 month birthday. Happy Birthday son. I can't believe how time has flown by and how in one month Cameron will be celebrating his 1 year birthday. Currently Cameron is almost through his 1 hour T-Collar trial as I blog, and Cameron is sat-ing from about 95 to 100. This morning has been a very eventful morning as we clean Cameron up for the day, with a bath, trach care, and G-tube care. Cameron enjoyed the bath and also enjoyed spending time with both Mommy and Daddy, as he smiled at both of us during the time we were cleaning Cameron up. We were able to talk with the covering Doctor today and it seems that we are heading in the right track. That is all for now, keep reading till I write again.
Saturday, May 15, 2010 10:10 PM, CDT
Today was a good day for Cameron, even though it was a rainy day. Today Cameron had some visitors from Great Aunt Stacy, and also, Maddie, and Zach. Also Cameron sat in his Bumbo for the 2nd day in a row and he did well. Cameron's ECO2 has been good and the RT came in and set Cameron up to complete another T-Collar trial of an hour for now, and we were told if the T-Collar trials go well this week end that the Doctor may start working on more hours of T-Collar trials starting on Monday. That is all for now, so keep reading till I write again.Friday, May 14, 2010 8:01 PM, CDT
Today was a good day for Cameron. Today the Doctor came by and talked to Mandy and I more about the fundo surgery and we asked lots of questions to understand the surgery and the situation more. It seems that currently the Doctor has done all that he could do to help Cameron gain the weight such as increasing the calorie intake by increasing the amount of formula per hour and also by increasing the actual calories in the formula by adding more powder to water ratio to also thicken the formula. Also the Doctor reported that he has Cameron on 2 types of reflux medications and also have given Cameron time to try to out grow the situation, yet nothing is working so surgery seems to be the next and last step to resolve the situation. Also Mandy spoke to Kim C., the Nurse Practitioner at Hermann Children's who was the NP who knows Cameron's case from the beginning till we left Hermann to go to Health Bridge and she also reported similar findings. On another note Cameron's CO2 was 58 yesterday. And also Cameron was put on a modified Trach Collar for 1 hour today, this is where Cameron was breathing on is own with only some oxygen free flowing into his Trach Collar chamber, and Cameron did great. Also he sat up with the help of the Bumbo chair for about 15 to 20 min and he also did well. That is all for now so keep reading till I write again.Thursday, May 13, 2010 6:34 PM, CDT
Today has been a good day for Cameron. He had a visitor today from Hermann Children's, Erica, who was his RT at Hermann. Although this is true, Mandy and I received some not so good news about Cameron and his current weight gain is not sufficiant for him. At his chronalogical age Cameron is about 7 to 8 lbs where he is supposed to be and at his corrected age he is 4 to 5 lbs where he is supposed to be. Based off of this Cameron may not have enough stored energy to build healthy lung tissue to continue the progress that we have seen thus far. Also the Doctor can not really increase the food intake much more because Cameron's stomach can only handle so much before he vomits/spits up and if he does then there is a chance of aspiration in which Cameron swallows his vomit/spit up back into his lungs. So now we are faced with a difficult choice of yet another surgery called a fundo in which they use part of his upper stomach to wrap around his lower part of his esopogus to help pinch off the espogus to prevent vomiting/spit up and to hopefully allow the Doctor to increase the food intake to stretch the stomach and Cameron to gain some weight as well as get off the vent. Both Mandy and I are torn between doing the surgery or not to put him through the pain of yet another surgery. Keep praying for us please.Wednesday, May 12, 2010 9:45 PM, CDT
Today has been a good day for Cameron. He played and laughed with Mandy. Cameron will have a blood gas tomorrow and if all goes well then the Doctor will do a trial trach collar tomorrow after 11 am. Other than that is all at this time. I will update tomorrow. Keep reading till I blog again.Tuesday, May 11, 2010 9:23 PM, CDT
Today has been a good day for Cameron. Today Mandy and Cameron played some and when the Doctor came by Mandy was informed that if all goes well with the blood gas on Thursday then there is a possibility that Cameron will go on Trach Collar trials for a certain number of hour(s) per day to assure that Cameron is able to tolerate the changes. Keep praying for him. Keep reading till I write again.
Monday, May 10, 2010 6:26 AM, CDT
Just got word from Mandy about Cameron's blood gas this morning. It seems that Cameron is doing really well on the C-PAP settings, because his blood gas shows that he has a PH of 7.42 and a CO2 of 59, which meets the Doctors standards to make another pressure support change, hopefully. Currently he is on a pressure support of 15, so later today I will let everyone know what change has been made by the doctor. Keep Reading till I write again.Sunday, May 9, 2010 8:07 AM, CDT
Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful Mother's.
Last night was an okay night for Cameron as in the middle of the night Cameron vomited/spit up some milk and had to be cleaned up and changed. It seems after the surgery Cameron is producing alot of secretions. The ECO2 for Cameron this morning was at 51. I also finish the Care by Parent trial in about an hour and as far as I could tell it seems that I passed. That is all at this time, keep reading till I write again.Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful Mother's.

So far today has been a good day for Cameron. So far the Care by Parent has been fun, and Cameron and Daddy have had fun playing with the ball that Uncle Danny got him. Also Cameron has enjoyed the idea of peeing and pooping for Daddy while I was already changing his diaper to start with, causing such a mess. I guess this is payback for all the mischief that I cause as I was growing up, lol. I will update later with more info when I can. Keep reading till I write again.

Cameron is having a good day so far. Per Mandy the Doctor came by and made the C-PAP setting change from a pressure support of 18 to 15, a 3 point decrease, and if Monday's blood gas is good then there is a possibility of another decrease in pressure support and then the possibility of T-Collar soon. The ECO2 after the C-PAP change was at 54 today. Cameron is also weighing in at 13.53 lbs. Tomorrow I will complete the rest of my Care by Parent test/run. I have 24 hours left to complete. Other than that, no other changes at this time. Keep reading till I write again.
Thursday, May 6, 2010 3:09 PM, CDT
The final update from Mandy is that the Doctor from Hermann Children's reported that Cameron is doing well enough that they will allow Cameron to go back to Health Bridge. So both Mandy and Cameron are going back to Health Bridge as I type currently. As far as Mandy can tell Cameron is just like Cameron all fussy because he has not eaten since 12:00 midnight this morning. All is well, and Cameron is okay at this time. Keep reading till I write again.
Thursday, May 6, 2010 10:36 AM, CDT
Just got an update from Mandy. Cameron did well through the surgery and the Doctors had to remove the granuloma on top of the stoma/trach site as well as some granulomas inside the stoma/trachial area. There was some slight bleeding and the Doctors want to keep an eye on him till 5 pm and possibly send him back to Health Bridge, and if it does not look good then the Doctor will keep Cameron at Hermann Children's overnight to keep an eye on him. Will update again when I have more information, but currently Cameron is resting in the recovery room and Mandy is with him. Keep reading till I write again.
Thursday, May 6, 2010 4:18 AM, CDT
Just got word from Mandy that both Cameron and her are preparing to go to Hermann Children's for the day surgery Cameron is having today. Also I got word from Mandy that the blood gas was taken today and the results were fantastic, with a PH of 7.39 and the CO2 was at 59. As you pray for Cameron today, please also pray for our Nation and our Leaders as thousands of believers will be today for today is National Prayer Day. I will post an update when I have more information, keep reading till I write again.
Wednesday, May 5, 2010 8:17 PM, CDT
Today has been a good day for Cameron as Cameron had a very special visitor. Auntie Heather came by and visited Cameron and played with him. Cameron and Mommy also had a good day and is doing well so far on the C-PAP. Currently both Mommy and Cameron are getting ready for bed as tomorrow Cameron and Mommy will leave Health Bridge at 5 am to go to Hermann Children's Hospital for minor surgery to have the keloid like growth around his stoma/trach site removed. Please pray for a safe removal and a safe return back to Health Bridge. I will keep everyone updated as soon as I know how everything is doing tomorrow. Keep reading till I write again.
Tuesday, May 4, 2010 9:45 PM, CDT
Today has been a good day for Cameron. As today his ECO2 this evening was 52. Which means that he is tolerating the C-PAP settings. Also per Mandy, the Doctor came by and is very impressed with Cameron's progress that the Doctor wants to hold off on discharging us home at this time and try to get Cameron on to T-Collar (Trach Collar), which utilizes his trach but no ventilator at all. To all my prayer warriors out there, Mandy, Cameron, and I thank you for your prayers and I would like to ask that we continue to pray for Cameron and his steady progress and for Mandy and I for strength. Keep reading till I write again.Monday, May 3, 2010 1:51 PM, CDT
Today has been a great day for Cameron. 1st off, the nurse reported to Mandy that Cameron's blood gas came back good, as his CO2 was at 61 and his PH was at 7.38. Then the Doctor reported that Cameron can go to C-PAP for 2 hours today as a trial and then later the RT came back and told Mandy that Cameron will be on continuous C-PAP from now on since he is on a rate of 3. The RT also told Mandy that they will be checking on Cameron with his CO2 level twice a day (once per shift) and go from there. As I have said again and again, God is good all the time and all the time God is good, Amen. Please continue to pray for Cameron to continue doing well and as the Doctors are looking towards the future and for Cameron to come home soon. Today started up with a good wake up call as the RT reported to me that Cameron's ECO2 was measured at 46. This morning as I finish my 24 hour Care by Parent it seems that Cameron was already up and wanting his bath. So Daddy gave Cameron his bath and Cameron just laughed and smiled at Daddy the whole time and then Cameron did it again, he peed on his bed. After cleaning Cameron up he went back to sleep holding his toy ball, lol. Keep reading till I write again.Saturday, May 1, 2010 5:21 PM, CDT
Today has been good for both Cameron and I. I started the Care by Parent at 8:30 am and will complete the 24 hours in no time. At this time Cameron is resting well and nothing really happening today with Cameron. This morning started out with Cameron spitting up a bit of mucus and needed to be suctioned as well as being bathed. Before the bath, Cameron was weighed and his current weight is at 13.288 lbs, which means Cameron is growing strong. Then Daddy bathed Cameron and he enjoyed the water, splashing his feet at Daddy. Then towards the end of the bath Cameron decided to pee on Daddy and in the bath water. Then Cameron had a big surprise as Uncle Danny came by and brought Cameron a new hat, some car toys from the Movie Cars and an educational ball, that Cameron is so attached to and is constantly playing with as when I tried to remove the ball to play with Cameron, he just started jutting out his pouty lip and crying at Daddy. Cameron did get his ECO2 measured and it was at 50, so hopefully Cameron can continue this trend and have a good blood gas on Monday to continue the forward movement. Currently Cameron is resting and just listening to his mobile music. That is all for now, so keep reading till I write again.

Just an update. The Doctors got to see Cameron today and they were so impressed with Cameron's progress again they made another vent change. The Doctor made the rate change from 6 to 3 on the vent and there is a possibility of Cameron getting on C-PAP next week per Mandy. So at this time that is all to report, so Keep reading till I write again.

I just got word from Mandy that Cameron's blood gas came back and it was great. Cameron's Blood Gas results were GREAT, with a PH of 7.45 and a CO2 of 55. So the Doctor will probably make another vent change today and I will let you all know what that is when I find out. Once again God is good all the time and all the time God is good. He has shown his healing hand on Cameron and continued to give us strength to carry on. Keep reading till I write again.

Today has been a good day for Cameron. Today Cameron got a surprise visit from Granmaja today. Granmaja, per Mandy came by to not only see and play with Cameron, but also to get some material and a video on trach care so that maybe Granmaja can take Cameron to one of Uncle Boo's game one day. Also Cameron's ECO2 this morning was at 58, but this evening his ECO2 went down to 50 which is good and shows that Cameron is tolerating the last vent change. This is a good sign that the next blood gas tomorrow should be good. Mandy and I ask that everyone continue to pray for good blood gases to help Cameron to continue to progress to the next level on the vent. When I get the result of the next blood gas tomorrow I will update then. Keep reading till, I write again.
Tuesday, April 27, 2010 6:16 PM, CDT
Today has been a quiet day for Cameron. Per Mandy, Cameron has been sleeping most of the day away, probably from the long day he had yesterday. Per Mandy, the Doctors came by today and due to the factor that Cameron is gaining some weight now, the Doctor changed the feeding rate from 28 cc's every hour to 30 cc's every hour, which means Cameron gets an ounce of formula every hour on a continuous feeds for a total of 24 Ounces in a day. That is all for now, keep reading till I write again.

Okay, here is the update from this morning. Cameron did go to the ENT Doctor and they said that he will have to come back on May 6th, to have the keloid type tissue removed from his tach/stoma site at this time. Also the Doctor came by and saw him and reported that his blood gas was good that they will make a vent change. The Doctor made the rate change from 9 to 6 today and also Cameron is on 1 liter of O2 at this time. That is all for now, keep reading till I write again.
Monday, April 26, 2010 5:48 AM, CDT
I just got in contact with Mandy and Cameron's Blood gas this morning was good. His PH is at 7.37 and his CO2 is at 61. So hopefully when the Doctor gets to see Cameron today then they will make another vent change. Currently Both Mandy and Cameron are getting ready for an ambulance ride to Hermann Children's to see the ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat) Doctor. I will update when I get more information. Keep reading till I write again.
Sunday, April 25, 2010 7:56 PM, CDT
Today Cameron had a rough start as he threw up 3 times this morning. Most of which is some white mucus stuff that the RT reported that may happen if we suction him too much or due to the factor that the balloon cuff on his trach is not fully inflated so that he may bring some of the mucus up himself, kinda like us clearing our throats. Other than that Cameron had a fun day with going outside and wearing his baseball cap as well as his sunglasses and just styling and basking in the sun and shade. Cameron had some visitors today as Granmaja, and Favorite Uncle Boo came by and played with him. Uncle Boo also brought Cameron a new stuffed animal. Other than that we are now preparing for a blood gas tomorrow morning at 5:30 am and if it is a good blood gas then they will make another change to the vent. Also Mandy and Cameron will be preparing for a trip back downtown to Hermann Children's to see his ENT Doctor about the keloid type growth on his trach/stoma site. Please continue to pray for good outcomes for both the blood gas as well as the ENT appointment.I will update when I have more. Keep reading till I write again.Saturday, April 24, 2010 7:12 PM, CDT
Today has been a good day for Cameron. He got to sit with Daddy on the recliner chair and watch some tv with me. Also Cameron's ECO2 was 53 currently. Right now both Mommy and Cameron are taking a nap. No real change today. Every one is gearing up for tomorrow and taking Cameron outside again to the play ground if tomorrow is a nice day. That is all for now. Keep reading till I write again.
Friday, April 23, 2010 11:45 PM, CDT
Today has been a good day for Cameron. He got to play with Mommy a bit and also his bed got moved around to help Cameron start looking and turning his head to the left. The ECO2 was recorded at 50 and the RT reported that if Cameron continues to progress that maybe he can get to C-PAP by end of next week. Also Cameron has an ENT appointment on Monday to look at his trach site and stoma site because he is building up some scar tissue there that is possibly getting in the way of the trach and they will have to go in and remove it. Also the Doctor talked to Mandy about the possibility of Cameron going home in about 3 weeks or so. To all my prayer warriors out there please continue to pray for us and for continued healing for Cameron, a good ENT visit on Monday, and continued strength for Mandy and I. Keep reading till I write again.
Thursday, April 22, 2010 12:54 PM, CDT
An UPDATE. Just got word from Mandy that the Doctor lowered the rate on the vent from 12 down to 9. So lets see how Cameron tolerates this. That is all for now, keep reading till I write again.
Thursday, April 22, 2010 6:10 AM, CDT
I just got word from Mandy that the nurse just got done doing a blood gas for Cameron and it was good. His PCO2 (AKA CO2) is at 60, under the 65 limit, and his PH is at 7.40. Which means that Cameron's lungs are starting to improve and get better, and he is compensatin g and requiring less support from the vent. Which in turns means that Cameron is doing some of the breathing himself. So now we await the Doctor to come by and make the vent change for Cameron. I will update this blog when the vent change has been made. All this just reminds me that Our God is an Awesome God.Wednesday, April 21, 2010 5:47 PM, CDT
Today has been a good day for both Cameron and Mandy. From what I understand Mandy finished up her Care by Parent training and passed it all. As far as Cameron he spent time playing with Mommy and having a good day from what I can gather. No real change at this time, but tomorrow is yet another blood gas for Cameron and if his PCO2 is under 65 again there will be another vent change for the better. So, to all my prayer warriors out there, please continue to pray for Cameron and a good blood gas result so that we may continue moving forward and Cameron continues to grow and get better. That is all for now, keep reading till I write again.
Tuesday, April 20, 2010 6:11 PM, CDT
Today Cameron has had a good day. Per Mandy, Cameron is reaching out and turning/pushing the arrow of the See N Say that Mandy and Cameron was playing with. Also it seems that Mandy is doing well with the Care by Parent trial so far. No other changes at this time as Cameron is just adjusting to the vent change. The next blood gas to see if another vent change will happen will be this Thursday. Keep reading till I write again,
Monday, April 19, 2010 6:45 AM, CDT
Good morning everyone. I just got a phone call from Mandy who just let me know that Cameron's CO2 from the blood gas this morning was at 61. So here's to hoping that the Doctor will make a vent change today or sometime this week. I will keep everyone updated as soon as I here something. Once again this goes to show that "God is good all the time, and all the time God is good."Sunday, April 18, 2010 2:14 PM, CDT
Today has been a good day for Cameron, even though it is raining today and Cameron will not get to go outside again. Today Cameron's ECO2 went up to 59 from yesterday. Although this is so, the nurse and the Respiatory Therapist do not seem concerned about this. Also Cameron was playing with Mommy and Daddy today with his rings and boy he is getting strong. Also Cameron is sitting in his bouncer to get out of his bed some. At this time we just await for the next blood gas on Monday or Tuesday to see if Cameron is tollerating the most recent vent change and also to see if there is another good blood gas, CO2 below 65, for another vent change. That is all at this time, so keep reading till I write again.
Saturday, April 17, 2010 9:19 PM, CDT
Today has been a good day for Cameron. Today Cameron had a visitor, a friend from the NICU. A mom from the NICU that Mandy and I befriended. And Vanessa also gave Mandy some ideas on planning a chart and a journal that will make it easier to remember Cameron's meds and such. Also today Cameron was chilling in his chair as we went outside again. Later this evening it seems that Cameron was not only sucking on his thumb but also on his two middle fingers, as Mandy became excited over this because this is how Mandy would suck on her fingers. Cameron's ECO2 (Entidal CO2) was at 55 tonight. Well after a long day it's time to go to sleep. Good nite Cameron. Good nite all. Keep reading till I write again.Friday, April 16, 2010 7:01 PM, CDT
Today has been a good day for Cameron. This morning ECO2 was at 56. Cameron seems to be doing well and handling the vent rate change okay at this time. Other than that Cameron turned 10 months old today.
Happy Birthday Son *Cameron*, love Mommy *Mandy* and Daddy *Doug*.Thursday, April 15, 2010 11:10 AM, CDT
Today has been a great day for Cameron. First off Cameron had his blood gas this morning and the CO2 was at 61 at which the level set by the Doctor to make a vent change was at 65 or below. So the Doctor made a rate change on the vent from 18 down 3 points to 15. Now we wait to see if Cameron can tolerate this change and also to see what his next blood gas will say next week to see if another change can be made. That is all for now, so keep reading yill I write again.
Wednesday, April 14, 2010 5:23 PM, CDT
Today Cameron had a good day as per Mandy Cameron has gotten to 8 sucks on his own with out any prompting/s timulation by the Speech Therapist. Also Mandy reported that Cameron had his thumb in his mouth and was sucking on his thumb instead of suckling his thumb. Also Mandy was able to take Cameron to the gym area and worked with Cameron on rolling over and Cameron was able to roll over from his side to his back on his own. So Cameron is currently doing well. Also tomorrow is the big day where the blood gas will let us as well as the Doctor know if we can make a vent change on the rate, so please to all my prayer warrior much needed prayer tonight for a good result of 65 or below for the blood gas. That is all for now, so keep reading till I write again.Tuesday, April 13, 2010 8:20 PM, CDT
Today Cameron has had a good day. Mommy got to take Cameron out side and play with him outside. Also Cameron's ECO2 has been staying steady at this time, and the Doctor wants to wait till Thursday's blood gas to see if he'll make a vent change, and per the Doctor if the PCO2 level is 65 or lower then he'll make the possible vent change from a rate of 18 to a rate of 16. To all my prayer warriors out there, please pray for a good blood gas on Thursday so that we may start moving forward again, and also to be with Cameron and the hands of the nurses and the Respiratory Therapist tonight as Mommy is home tonight to getting some much needed rest and sleep. That is all for now, so keep reading till I write again.
Monday, April 12, 2010 3:24 PM, CDT
Well today has been an okay day for Cameron as he got to play with Mommy a bit and then he got to have lab work done for a VBG (Venus Blood Gas), BMP (Basic Metabolic Panel), CBC (Complete Blood Count), and the VBG showed that his CO2 was at 65 with a good PH. But no changes to the vent at this time. Also when Daddy, went to change Cameron's diaper, Cameron thought it would be funny to pee, like a fountain, on Daddy, all the while smiling and laughing about it, but that's okay, because Cameron also left a very heavy diaper for Mommy to change. Yet another Doctor (neurologis
t) came by and talked to us about possible use of Botox for Cameron for muscle contracture that he sees in Cameron's left foot, possibly related to CP (Cerebal Palsy). Mandy and I along with the PT (Physical Therapist) and the covering Doctor for Doctor Liaw suggested that we talk to his primary Doctor which is Dr. Liaw. At this point I am back at home, doing laundry for Cameron and Mandy, while Mandy is up at Health Bridge taking care of Cameron and also resting from her trip.Sunday, April 11, 2010 8:05 PM, CDT
Cameron did get to go outside today sporting his brand new shades. He got to go beyond the front porch and he even got to play outside in the play ground here at Health Bridge. Cameron seemed to like it but it seems that he doesn't know what to make out of the wind and the sun. Also Cameron seemed to like the noise that the play ground equipment made. Also Cameron like to play with the toys and the rings that I put up for him to play with. Mommy made it home and Cameron seemed very excited to see Mommy back with him. Also Uncle Justin got Cameron a cute onesie, Air Force bound one, and Cameron will look good in it when he gets into it. Mommy also got Cameron a cute camo onesie and Cameron will look great in it, finally his 1st Camo outfit, lol. That is it for now, so keep reading till I write again.Sunday, April 11, 2010 11:06 AM, CDT
Today Cameron is having a good day so far. He is just playing around with the rings and the rattle ring. I tried the teething ring with Cameron and boy did he put up a fuss again, i think that he just doesn't like the cold feeling. Also the trach in Cameron is currently not inflated so now as Cameron is starting to learn how to control his breathing, it is possible to hear more of Cameron as he yawns, and moves around and gets upset. Hopefully if the day is a good day, we will take a trip outside with his new sun glasses. Attached is a preview of those sunglasses. Keep reading till I write again.Saturday, April 10, 2010 6:20 PM, CDT
Today has been a good day for Cameron. Today Daddy and Cameron played together on the floor for about 45 minutes to an hour, and Cameron was able to pick things up and transfer from one hand to the other twice. Also Cameron got to sit in his big blue chair to help build his trunk and neck muscles up and Cameron played with Daddy some more where Cameron also was holding a toy with both hands. It seems that Cameron will possibly be a right hander due to the factor that Cameron seems to favor his right hand more over his left hand. Also the respiratory therapist did his ET-CO2 and it was 55. That is all for now, so keep reading till I write again.Saturday, April 10, 2010 9:28 AM, CDT
Today so far, Cameron is doing well. Although this is true right now, early this morning around 4 am or so Cameron decided he wanted to move around and I guess he was ready to crawl, because he kinda scooted himself from the raised section of his crib to the foot of the crib and in doing so he disconected himself from the vent setting off all the alarms and as I was startled awake and looking for the light switch and what went wrong with the vent I realized that if Cameron keeps this up, I will have a head of grey hairs in a matter of months, lol. Other than that the Doctor made one change to the vent last night to where the I-time (Insperatio n time) went from 0.7 to 0.6 which makes Cameron breath more on his own by taking and sustaining his longer breaths by himself. Other than that Cameron is looking forward to traveling around the hospital and possibly outside (if the weather is good) today with his very own cool blue shades. Keep reading till I write again.
Friday, April 9, 2010 10:34 PM, CDT
Today was a good day for Cameron as he only spit up/vomit once today. Other than that Cameron got some visitors from our Bammel family today and Cameron was hamming it up with them. Cameron also worked with Physical Therapy, Occupationa l Therapy, and Speech Therapy today and Cameron was not only having fun, but doing well. Also the CO2 from the blood gas last night was at 76, but the CO2 today was at 56 from the vent. That is all at this time, so keep reading till I write again.Thursday, April 8, 2010 8:41 PM, CDT
Today Cameron had a good day. First off he had fun with Auntie Erin as Cameron was held for about 2 hours and got to play with Auntie Erin. Thank you so much Erin. Cameron did spit up/vomit up some formula several times today but he is okay now. Cameron also could not figure out what he wanted more of, his paci or his thumb in his mouth so he tried to have both, lol. Also tonight daddy will stay with Cameron as Mommy is out of town watching Uncle Justin graduate the Air Force boot camp. Congratulat ion Justin. Other than that no new news at this time. Keep reading till I write again.Wednesday, April 7, 2010 4:48 PM, CDT
Today Cameron has had a good day. This morning, per Mandy, Cameron vomited a bit and the Doctors are a bit worried because Cameron is not gaining the weight that the Doctor and the treatment team is wanting him to gain, due to the possible vomiting and due to this the Doctors have mentioned the possibility of a fundo, yet a possibility of another procedure. When I spoke to Mandy she mentioned that she was holding Cameron and he was smiling at her and she was having fun with him. That is all for now, so keep reading till I write again.
Tuesday, April 6, 2010 7:04 PM, CDT
Today was a good day for Cameron. I surprised Mandy and Cameron when I stopped by to see how Cameron was doing. Per Mandy the Doctor decided to go ahead and remove the PIC line, so today the PIC line is now gone from Cameron's right arm and Cameron seems much happier to not have that PIC line in any more. Also the Doctor increase the feeding from 27 cc's every hour to 28 cc's every hour. Other than that Cameron is doing real well, and I was trying to teach Cameron how to give Daddy a kiss on the check, but all I got was Cameron licking my check, lol. That is all for now, keep reading, till I write again.Monday, April 5, 2010 8:24 PM, CDT
Today was a good day for Cameron. He had a fun time with Mommy, and right now, due to Cameron having lots of secretions, the Doctors will not make any vent changes for right now, even though Cameron's CO2 was around 67 and his PH was at 7.41. Today Mandy got to learn a very important step in taking care of Cameron and bringing him home. That very important step was that of learning how to replace Cameron's trach if for any reason that the trach came out or needed to be replaced so it can be cleaned. That is all for now, so keep reading till I write again.Sunday, April 4, 2010 6:49 PM, CDT
Happy Easter, everyone. Today Cameron had a great and busy day. First, Cameron attended his 1st church service here at Health Bridge and he was so good, he didn't evn cry or get upset durring the service. Mandy and I were so proud of Cameron durring the service and afterwords as well especially since he was spitting up this morning, just because he had alot of secretions. Also Cameron had lots of visitors as Granmaja, Uncle Boo, Big Papa, Nana, Troy & Beth came by and brought Easter to Cameron, Mandy and I. That is all for now, so keep reading till I write again.
Saturday, April 3, 2010 8:01 PM, CDT
Today has been a very busy day for Cameron. Today Cameron's RT lowered the O2 from 2 liters to 1.5 liters. Also today Cameron got to go outside again but this time Cameron went outside to hunt for Easter eggs. During the Easter Egg hunt Cameron was enjoying himself and also just cruising around in his chair and checking out the girls. Also Cameron got to see a dog for the first time durring the pet therapy at the Easter Egg Hunt. Also Cameron got to spend some time with Granmaja and Uncle Boo as they babysat and played with Cameron for about 4 hours as Mandy and I took a break and enjoyed some time with each other. Thanks Mom and Boo. That is all for now, so keep reading till I write again.Friday, April 2, 2010 8:43 PM, CDT
Today has been a good day for Cameron as his CO2 has been remaining with in the limits that has been set by the Doctors. Currently, per the RT and the treatment team will let Cameron get used to the current settings and they will probably make another rate change on Monday. Also Cameron is weighing in at 12 pounds and a little over 1 ounce. Also Cameron is back on continuous feeds with a higher calories formula from 27 cal to 30 cal at a rate of 27 cc's an hour. Which means Cameron gets about 22 ounces of formula a day. Well it's time for trach care so I'll write more tomorrow. Keep reading till then.
Thursday, April 1, 2010 9:45 PM, CDT
Today has been a good day for Cameron. Cameron was able to keep his CO2 under the required amount set forth by the Doctor and so the Doctor lowered his rate from 20 to 18. Even with this rate change, Cameron was doing well and able to keep his O2 saturation in the 90's. Also Mandy informed me that last night and into the morning she was able to wake up and give Cameron his meds and his formula and such through out the night and she even took a small nap during the day to try to catch up on her sleep. When I saw Cameron today he was a bit fussy, but it seems that he just needed a diaper change, before Mandy and I went to get dinner. That is all for now, keep reading till I write again.
Wednesday, March 31, 2010 9:28 PM, CDT
Well today has been a good day for Cameron. From what I've been told from Mandy it seems that Cameron has been able to transfer a toy from one hand to the other again, and also that Cameron was trying to reach out and touch/grab one of the toy rings hanging on his mobile. So as it seems that Cameron is starting to learn some things as Mandy is working with him very hard. Also Mandy reported to me that if Cameron's CO2 remains in a certain limit tomorrow then, the Doctor will start looking at weening the pressures on the LTV vent. Tonight and into the morning may be a rough night for Mandy as she will be trying to take care of Cameron on her own through out the night with the help of the nurses if she needs it. That's all for now. Keep reading till I write again.
Tuesday, March 30, 2010 7:55 PM, CDT
Today was a good day for Cameron as Mommy got to bathe him again and he got to go outside again. Cameron also got a new Easter outfit and as we prepare to celebrate our God and the many blessing that he has given Mandy, Cameron and myself. As I have said and will continue to say, "God is good all the time, and all the time, God is good."
Monday, March 29, 2010 8:29 PM, CDT
Today Cameron had somewhat of an off day, as Cameron threw up/spit up several times today and due to this he is losing a little bit of weight. The Doctor put Cameron on some IV fluids for a little while and then the Doctor put Cameron on a high Calorie formula, at a lower amount to help Cameron gain some weight. Other than that Cameron has had a decent day where today his CO2 was in the mid 60's and Cameron had his 1st real bath, not a sponge bath as we have been giving him. Mommy was able to put him in a baby tub after protecting his trach and also his IV line, Cameron was able to experience the water in a whole new way. Per Mandy at 1st Cameron didn't like this but later Cameron was playing in the water some with Mommy. When I went to see Cameron this evening the IV fluids have been discontinue d and he is back on the feeds now. That is all for now, keep reading till I write again.
Sunday, March 28, 2010 6:10 PM, CDT
Today was a good day for Cameron as He played with Daddy for a while as Daddy gave him a bath, did trach care, and also G-tube care. Cameron even had some visitors come by and play with him from Granmaja (which Granmaja and Uncle Boo visited Cameron yesterday as well). Grandma, and Bill. We got Cameron all ready to go on a trip and we had him in the Kid Cart (medical stroller) and also we raced around Health bridge a bit till Cameron started de-sat-ing, so we returned to the room and had the Respiratory Therapist check him out and then Cameron feel asleep. It seemed he was just fussy because he wanted to sleep. That is all for now, so keep reading till I write again.Saturday, March 27, 2010 7:43 PM, CDT
Today I got a surprise when I got to Health Bridge today. Mandy got Cameron all ready and took Cameron outside and met me when I pulled up into the parking lot. Cameron is now on the LTV vent around the clock and now the doctor wants Cameron to be on bolis feeds to stretch out his stomach to be able to take in more food and grow. Cameron got to play with Daddy today and I found out that Cameron not only likes his paci but he also like to pull on Daddy's hair and on my glasses. Cameron is doing well now, although his CO2 is a bit on the high side the team of nurses are tweaking the vent out. I got to go for now, time for me to learn how to program his feeding pump. Keep reading till I write again.Friday, March 26, 2010 10:19 PM, CDT
Today has been a good day for Cameron as Cameron got to go outside again and he seemed to enjoy that well with some visitors as well from the Bammel Family. The doctors also changed Cameron's feeding schedule from being on a continuous feed to a boils feeding, which is 60 cc's of food in one hours time and then rest for an hour and repeat the cycle through out the day and night. That is all for now, so keep reading till I write again.
Thursday, March 25, 2010 10:25 PM, CDT
Today has been a very exciting day for Cameron as Cameron got to go outside again and take a ride in a loaner medical stroller. According to Mandy, Cameron didn't like the wind to much, but he enjoyed the other things. It seems that Cameron did real well as he is still on the LTV vent trials/transition for yesterday he was on it for 22 hours and he is maintaintin g his CO2 at the level that he needs currently. Also the Doctor and the treatment team seems to be a bit antsy about the whole insurance thing, as it seems that we met our lifetime max on our insurance, and now due to this it seems per my perspective that they may rush Cameron out of HealthBridg e. At one point that may not be a bad idea, because that means that Cameron will come home soon, but on the other hand it may mean that Cameron will not come home on a trach collar and that it may take months and possibly years to get him on trach collar if we do it at home. This whole process is so frustrating as it seems that in this hard of an economic times that hospitals alike are all worried about the money and they miss out on the opportunity to know the patients and offer up the best patient care that they can give. Granted at this time we have received great care for Cameron, but I worry sometimes that there is a push for quantity of patients seen versus quality at times. Ahh.... well..... as they say it the money that makes the world go round, so now it's time for me to stop my venting at this time, and go to bed. Good nite all. Love you Cameron. Keep reading till I write again,
Wednesday, March 24, 2010 9:18 PM, CDTToday was not that good of a day for Cameron. As Mandy was telling me that during trach care Cameron started throwing up and it was due to high amount of secretions in his trach and throat area. Other than that Cameron is tolerating the LTV vent okay. The Doctor came in and told Mandy that instead of a regular stroller and car seat apparatus that OT and PT is requesting that Cameron will need a medical stroller. Also the Doctor had mentioned that he has seen cases like Cameron in which that the other children did not get off the vent until age 3 or so and that Cameron can not stay there until he gets off the vent. This was some news that both Mandy and I did not like hearing, but I also know that it seems that the Doctors always say that Cameron can't or won't be able to do this or that, and it seems that Cameron seems to prove the Doctor's wrong, it just take him a bit longer to complete these things. I don't know, I'm just rambling now, so I'll end here. Keep reading till I write again.Tuesday, March 23, 2010 11:26 PM, CDT
Today seemed to be a good day for Cameron. Mandy informed me that Cameron did a hand to hand transfer with a toy that he was playing with today as he continues to get onto the LTV vent full time. Cameron also got his music today as Daddy brought up the radio and the Baby Einstein CD. Also Daddy got to hold Cameron for a bit today which was awesome as Cameron was gumming and drooling on my shirt. Cameron has been doing well with his LTV vent transfer and as long as his CO2 is low then they will continue the LTV vent trials until he is on the LTV vent full time. Mommy got into the decorating mood today and has decorated his room with Pooh Bear. Also Cameron had a visit today from Paula and from what I've been told Cameron like it alot. Well that is all for now and time for me to get some sleep. Good nite all. Keep reading till I write again.
Monday, March 22, 2010 9:07 PM, CDT
Today Cameron is completing his LTV vent trials at 16 hours today. Mandy shared some exciting news with me today that Cameron is teething and now you can see one tooth starting to pop up. Cameron was also playing with Mandy today and Mandy got to hold Cameron alot today. Also today was a sad day for Mandy and I as we said good bye to both of our cats, Kiki and Snowie as Leighann came by and picked them up. Thank you Leighann for taking care of and finding a good home for Kiki and Snowie. Good nite all. Good nite Cameron, sleep tight. Keep reading till I write again.

Today was a good day for Cameron as he had visitors. Nana, and Great Aunt Stacy came by and played with Cameron a bit and got to see Cameron's new home for now. Yesterday and today has been information overload for both Mandy and I as we demonstrate d trach care and G-tube care as we also became inundated with information on how to disassemble and reassemble to LTV vent and accessories as well as to how to create a portable circuit and transferrin g the LTV to home vent to transport mode on the vent settings. We also learned how to take out a tach tube and re-insert the trach tube. Lots to learn and take in, but both Mandy and I are doing our best to learn all the information that they are giving us. That is all for now, Keep reading till I write again.

Today Cameron is doing okay. Today he will be on the LTV vent only for 12 hours because his CO2 was a bit high at 71. The nurse bumped up Cameron's feeds to 30 cc's every hour on a continuous feed because Cameron lost some weight. Currently Cameron is weighing in at 11 lbs and 7 ounces. Cameron was in his bouncer when I came by and then Daddy and Cameron played some and then Cameron was trying to put Daddy's thumb in his mouth and suck on Daddy's thumb, lol. That is all for now. Keep reading till I write again.

Today has been a good day for Cameron as he did the LTV vent today for 12 Hours and it seems that Cameron did real well on today's trial. Mommy got to play with Cameron today and Cameron got some visitors today. Auntie Erin and Tabitha got to play with Cameron as well. Daddy came by today and got the report from Mommy, as Daddy brought Kiki and Snowie to see Mommy and Mommy got a chance to say good bye to both Kiki and Snowie (our other children - the cats) as they will hopefully be moving to a new home soon. That is all for now. Keep reading till I write again.Tuesday, March 16, 2010 9:25 PM, CDT
After work I went by to visit Cameron and Mommy, and both are doing well. Mandy is a bit stressed from the transition, but should be fine after a good night rest. Cameron was doing fine as he was looking at his new mobile, yes yet another new mobile that he now likes, yet Daddy scared him with the funny voices and all when I was trying to play with Cameron with the mobile. But it did seem that Cameron likes his nose being suctioned out with the blue bulb by Daddy as he kept smiling at me. The nurse came by and reported that the current plan per the Doctor and the treatment team is to start Cameron off with 8 hours on the LTV vent ( The vent that he was able to do 7 hours on at Hermann Children's just a few days ago. ) and the rest of the hours in the day will be on the servo vent. This is all starting tomorrow and they will be moving aggressively adding 2 more hours per day until Cameron can utilize the LTV vent for 24 hour straight and then from there allowing him to settle in on the LTV vent from the servo vent and then possibly to C-PAP and then to Trach Collar. As we start a new chapter in this journey and learn new things please continue to pray for us.
Tuesday, March 16, 2010 1:19 PM, CDT
I just got word that Cameron made it to Caring Bridge safely and is doing okay at this time. They switched him off of the LTV vent and placed him on the servo vent for now until they can see that Cameron is stable and then they will start the weening process again. I will head over there after work and I will post then an update. Keep reading till I write again.
Monday, March 15, 2010 9:00 PM, CDT
Today Cameron did really well on the LTV vent for he was on it for 7 hours today and his blood gas showed that his CO2 was at 71, and a PH of 7.38 as well as his entitle CO2 was 57. Which shows that Cameron was tollerating the LTV vent rather well. Currently Cameron is weighing in at 11 lbs and 5 ounces. As we prepare for the transfer to Health Bridge tomorrow, I ask all my prayer warriors out there to pray for a safe journey for Cameron and us to Health Bridge as well a peace for Mandy and I as we close this chapter of this journey and begin a new chapter at Health Bridge. I will update tomorrow after the transfer to Health Bridge. Keep reading till I write again.Sunday, March 14, 2010 3:32 PM, CDT
Today Cameron was able to stay on the LTV vent for 5 hours. and his CO2 went up a bit but not by much. So far Cameron is doing fine and today he had some visitors today, Granmaja, Big Pappa, and Uncle Boo came by and visited with him today. Big Pappa even had Cameron sitting up and playing with Cameron. They brought Cameron a new outfit and a stuffed animal for Easter. They all were loving on Cameron today and boy Cameron was enjoying it as he was smiling up at them all. No big changes at this time for Cameron and his vent settings. They are just monitoring Cameron at this time. Keep reading till I write again. Saturday, March 13, 2010 9:55 PM, CST
Today Mandy and I came by and saw Cameron for a bit and Cameron did 4 hours on the LTV vent and did really well that Cameron's blood gas stay with in the same range as before going on the LTV vent. We also tried for a long time to get Cameron to smile and we got him to smile and got it on camera, which is awesome. Cameron also got a chance to play with mommy and daddy for a while. No other changes at this time other than trying to get Cameron to Health Bridge this up and comming week. We know that Dr. Hitner (the eye dr.) needs to see Cameron as well as a few other doctors on Monday before Cameron will be moved from Hermann Children's to Health Bridge. Keep reading till I write again.Friday, March 12, 2010 11:23 PM, CST
Mandy and I are going home for a break for the weekend. But Cameron is doing okay for now and that Cameron is trying to do the LTV vent again for about 4 hours and he did pretty good for the time that he was on the vent. The doctors reported that Cameron is on track at this time with the LTV vent and that his bllod gas is showing that he is tollerating the LTV vent pretty well. That is all for now, so keep reading till I write again.
Thursday, March 11, 2010 9:00 PM, CST
Today has been a rough day for Cameron as his heart rate keeps fluctuating and dropping to the high 80s. Although this is true Cameron was tried on the LTV vent again today and he did great for the 30 minute trial, yet his CO2 came back high, in the high 70s. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day for him and us all. Keep reading till I write again.
Wednesday, March 10, 2010 6:31 PM, CST
Today was not so good of a day for Cameron and us, as we were suppose to go to Health Bridge today and could not because Cameron did not tolerate the LTV vent for transport. Due to this the Doctors and the nurses will try to adapt Cameron to this vent by slow transition to the vent and the vent settings. We will try again for the fourth time to transition Cameron to Health Bridge early next week. At this time we all are resting and hoping that Cameron takes to the new vent settings as well as to the vent so that we may begin the transition to Health Bridge and then to home soon. Keep reading till I write again.Tuesday, March 9, 2010 8:50 PM, CST
Today has been a very full day for Cameron as he had lots of Doctors looking in on him to make sure Cameron was doing well. The Surgery team came in to evaluate Cameron today to see if he had another hernia or not and Cameron passed with flying colors. Also Dr. Jon also reported that if Cameron is doing well tonight then maybe he can go to Health Bridge tomorrow. So to all my prayer warriors, please pray for Cameron and us as we try again, for the third time, to transition to Health Bridge. That's all for now, keep ready till I write again.Monday, March 8, 2010 7:51 PM, CST
Today has been a very eventful day for Cameron. Cameron has been NPO (no feedings) since 4 am this morning till he went down to the IR for surgery to have the PIC line put in witch was around 2 pm, which made Cameron a very cranky son. Although Cameron was cranky he did come out fine with a PIC line in and now he is being feed again. There is some talk of us moving again to Health Bridge some time this week, but there is an uncertainty of when. All is good for now as I am still at home recovering from being sick while Mandy is at the hospital with Cameron. Keep reading till I write again.
Sunday, March 7, 2010 7:17 PM, CST
Today so far Cameron has had a good day. Mommy got to bath Cameron and play with him as well. The doctors reported to us that they tried to lower the vent settings but his CO2 then climbed back up so they put it back to where it was. Cameron is still scheduled for surgery in the IR to take out the Femoral line and to put in a PIC line tomorrow unless he gets bumped. Then hopefully to Health Bridge to learn more and get Cameron down to a trach collar. Mommy is with him now all by herself since Daddy is not feeling well. That is all for now, so keep reading till I write again.
Saturday, March 6, 2010 7:05 AM, CST
This morning it seems that Cameron is very active and the nurse reported that due to the factor that Cameron's CO2 went back up to 86 that they had to turn the rate up to 23. At this time that is the only change on the vent. I am watching as Cameron is learning to stick his thumb and whole hand into his mouth and also he is just kicking all around, wiggling/scotting down the bed to the bottom of where we had placed him, lol. No other news this morning at this time. I will update when I get more information, so keep reading till I write again.
Friday, March 5, 2010 8:14 PM, CST
Today has been a better day for Cameron as he didn't throw up till just a few minutes ago, but the nurses were messing with Cameron and weighing him. Currently he is at 11 lbs and 2 ounces. Also Mandy and I met with a Doctor today about Cameron needing the current line out and a new line, a pic line and will need to take Cameron possibly on Monday down to the OR to put the line in. Also Mandy met with the Hematologist today and the Doctor reported that Cameron was low on his Iron, due to being premature, but in about 3 months from now that Cameron would be fine in regards to this iron problem. That's all for now, so keep reading till I write again.
Thursday, March 4, 2010 8:39 PM, CST
Last night and early this morning Cameron was vomitting and spitting up to a point that he was a mess. The nurse and the Doctor came by and helped us take care of the situation, but his alarms kept going off because of his vent was not picking up well. Over all he did well and he pulled out like a champ, but both Mommy and I are very tired and exhaused from the no sleep and the worrying about Cameron and all. That is all for now, Keep reading till I write again.
Wednesday, March 3, 2010 9:16 PM, CST
This afternoon and this evening has been a bit better for Cameron as his other blood gas has shown that his CO2 level is comming down. It came down not by much but it did come down to 93. The vent settings are still the same at this time, and Cameron got to sit in his bouncer today as well as look at his new favorite mobile and play with both Mommy and Daddy. Also Cameron got a surprise visitor this evening, Ms. Terry Davis came by and visited Cameron and we had a great time with her over some dinner. When we came back from dinner Cameron was enjoying some Daddy time and he is smiling, kicking and playing around right now. That is all for now, so keep reading till I write again.

Today has been a rough day for both Cameron and Mommy as Mommy watched Cameron not do well today. The Doctors yesterday discontinued all the diuretics and lasix yesterday to see if Cameron can handle this on his own, and Cameron did not do so well. Per Mandy, Cameron was de-satting all day today and they had to go up on his vent settings where his O2 is not at 40%, but atleast the presure support is at 6. Also Cameron was really fussy today, more than normal and per the Doctors after the x-ray Cameron is not retaining any fluid so far in, on, or around his lungs/chest area. At this time the nurse and the tech are here about to weigh Cameron again to see if he has gained or lost any weight. And Cameron is weighing in at 11 lbs and 4 ounces. Some of which I expect is fluid since they took him off of the diuretics and lasix. That is all for now. Keep reading till I write again.
Monday, March 1, 2010 7:54 PM, CST
Today Cameron had a rough start as he was de-satting this morning and the Doctors had to go up on his O2 a bit and give him a rate on the vent for a little bit to help him out and until he calmed down a bit. After that, Cameron did calm down and started doing some what better. There are currently no changes for Cameron at this time and the treatment team is looking at possibly moving Cameron to Health Bridge on Monday of next week, but at this time it seems to go back and forth and everything seems to be up in the air and they are kind of going day by day. This evening, Cameron got weighed by the nurse and the tech and he is weighing in at 10 lbs and 14 ounces at this time. That is all for now, so keep reading till I write again.
Saturday, February 27, 2010 8:52 AM, CST
So today has been a good day so far. Early this morning Cameron went into back up mode on the vent again, and from the respiratory therapist it seems that Cameron sleeps really well during the night and due to this he breaths are much more shallow than his regular breath and it triggers the alarms and the sets the vent into back up mode. This morning Mommy gave Cameron a bath and held him for a bit. Some of the Doctors came in this morning and talked to us about Cameron's status and how he has been doing so far and how he has been triggering the back up portion of the vent settings. The Doctor reported that Cameron may have to have a rate setting at night on the vent to help out the weening process. This is a step back for a bit to a slower weening process at this time, but they will talk with the attending Doctor and let us know about that in a little bit. Also it seems that some time during the night the Doctors increased the feedings from 22 cc's every hour to 23 cc's every hour. That is all for now, so keep reading till I write again.Friday, February 26, 2010 7:16 PM, CST
Today has not been so good for Cameron. It started out well and Cameron is still on the C-PAP trials on the vent but when he went on the trach collar trial with no pressure support today he got tired after 20 minutes and then the vent went into back up mode and back to a rate for him to breath with. Although that happened, on a brighter note, the Doctors lowered his pressure support from 7 to 6. Mommy and Daddy got to hold Cameron in the standing up position, and patting and rubbing his back, similar to burping him. Also the Case Manager, Monica reported that he may not be able to get to trach collar by time to go home, so yet another change of plans where we may still have to go to Health Bridge instead of home. It seems that sometimes these Doctors and Case Managers seem to give you home one minute and then yanks the rug out from under you the next. That is that roller coaster of a premature birth. Keep reading till I write again.
Thursday, February 25, 2010 8:36 PM, CST
This morning again Cameron gave us a scare with back up mode on the vent. Cameron is getting good with giving us scares and almost giving Daddy a heart attack as Daddy panics around the room, lol. Today Cameron did the C-PAP all day and also did C-PAP with out pressure support for 1 hour today and per Mandy he did really well. Also Cameron was in his bouncer when Daddy came by and saw him today. He was fast asleep and satting well into the high 90's and up to 100. Also the Doctors raised his feeds to 22 cc's every hour on continuous feeds. Cameron is doing well at this time as Mommy is doing trach care on Cameron as I blog. The doctors are telling Mandy that if all goes well and Cameron can get on trach collar and not go to Health Bridge then may be he can come straight home from the hospital with in a rough estimate of two weeks or so, pending how well Cameron is doing with his care. That's all for now, so keep reading till I write again.
Wednesday, February 24, 2010 8:52 PM, CST
Today Cameron gave us a scare early this morning as he needed to go onto the back up on the vent because he was asleep so hard that he was not breathing very well and needed some assistance, but ever since then he hasn't needed the back up setting of the vent. Also today the Doctors pushed Cameron just a little bit harder and left him on the C-PAP setting all day long and even tried it with the pressure support of 0 for 30 min, which means that Cameron was given the opportunity to try to breath on his own for 30 with only the support of O2 free flowing in and out. And Cameron did it all on his own for 30 min, and tomorrow the doctors want to try this again for 1 hour. It also seems that we may have to find new homes for both of our cats, Snowie and Kiki because of the pet dander that can have an affect on Cameron and his breathing, that if not careful the nurse reports could cause cameron to go into respiratory distress and end back up in the hospital again. :( Currently Cameron is sleeping well and resting, as Mandy and I are starting to learn how to give Cameron his medications. Keep reading till I write again.
Tuesday, February 23, 2010 8:18 PM, CST
Today did not start off as a good day for Cameron as he woke us all up at 4:00 am as Cameron threw up this morning all over himself and all over his bed and sheets. After cleaning all that up Cameron just went back to bed and Mommy went back to sleep and Daddy went to work. Then later during the day we got some information from the Doctor that Cameron will possibly be discharged home or to Health Bridge. At this time Mandy and I have decided to go to Health Bridge with Cameron because if they send Cameron home he will go home on a vent instead of on C-PAP or trach collar. As it seems the Doctor reports that Cameron is stable at this time and may not need this level of care, but if sent home would need a Home Health nurse, which to me seems that it is about the same level of care just at home, which when I asked this of the Doctor it seems that the Doctor would not shed any light on this matter (note the frustration). Which makes me wonder if it has any thing to do with insurance. As I begin to rant and rave about this I will end this rant now, and just note that Mandy and I will hopefully be going to Health Bridge soon and hopefully learn more on how to care for Cameron as well as to see Cameron get down onto trach collar. It also seems that Cameron is doing better as the Doctor wants to try Cameron on C-PAP trials for a continueous 24 hours with a back up rate if Cameron forgets to breath. That is all for now, so keep reading till I write again.
Monday, February 22, 2010 8:08 PM, CST
Well today has been a very eventful day for Cameron as he has gotten to a point where he is doing 6 hours of C-PAP trials in the morning and 6 hours of C-PAP in the afternoon, and the doctor stated that he wanted to combine the C-PAP trial into one 12 hour session and so far Cameron is tolerating this with low CO2 entitles. Also the Docotr reported that they have discontinued the lasix completly and will be moving his diuretics from 2 times a day to 1 time a day and seeing how he does with this. Also the Doctor reported that they have written orders for Home Health Nurse for when we do go home with Cameron. So the new plan is now for Cameron to stay at Hermann Children's until Cameron is stable enough and then for Cameron to go home instead of going the Health Bridge. So now we wait and work with Cameron to getting him better. Keep reading till I write again.
Sunday, February 21, 2010 8:50 PM, CST
Well I can't sleep so I'm up blogging again. It seems that Cameron is doing well and the Doctor came in and informed us that Cameron's progress is as "Status Quo." The only change so far to Cameron's settings are that of his vent, in which the Doctor reported that they changed his pressure support (the amount of air that is helping keep Cameron's lungs inflated by the mechanical means) from 15 down to 10. So that is a good improvement at this time. Well I must go off to bed and try to sleep to be ready to leave for work in the morning. Keep reading till I write again.
Sunday, February 21, 2010 3:56 PM, CST
Well yesterday was a good day for Cameron as he got visitors from Granmaja, Uncle Boo, Nana, and Aunt Stacy came by and visited him. He did real well with everyone and enjoyed the play time with everyone. Although Cameron is doing well with his C-PAP trials and visitors yesterday after we left early in the morning to go home and do laundry and get a break from the hospital setting on the way back I got us (Mandy and I) into a car accident on I-45 south bound right past I-10 around 4:30 pm. That is where I started thinking that "Wow, we were lucky that Cameron was not in the car with us and nobody got hurt." My thoughts at the time of the accident was that if either one of us had gotten hurt then Cameron would not have us nearby when he needed us. And then I realized how I really messed up by getting into that car accident and all. Well note to self while I write this is that I need more sleep so I'm not so tired when I get behind the wheel. Some things that just going through my mind. But on another note, Today seems to be a good day for Cameron as well. Cameron again had visitors from Granmaja, Uncle Boo, and Big Papa. And today Big Papa held Cameron and he had Cameron sat-ing in the high 90's and even to 100. Way to go Big Papa. I had wished that both Kevin and Justin were here to see that. Well enough ramblings from a tired Daddy, so Keep reading till I write again.Saturday, February 20, 2010 12:07 PM, CST
Today has been a good day so far for Cameron. Mandy and I are at home for a bit to get away and get a break from the hospital. But it started out a bit rock as Cameron's CO2 was at 80 but later it came down to 71 and the nurse reported that they will continue on with the C-PAP trials. Other than that Cameron not only makes noises when he yawns, but also some what when he is upset and he cries a bit. It is kinda nice to hear what Cameron sounds like at times. Also it seems that Cameron is getting on a sleep schedual and it is kinda nice to see that Cameron is sleeping though most of the night unless bothered by the nurses. Keep reading till I write again.Friday, February 19, 2010 4:35 AM, CST
Yesterday was an okay day for Cameron as he did his C-PAP trials and also he played with Mommy and listened to the music from the Baby Einstein cd's. It seems that he is tolerating it well and all his blood gass have come back with in the same level. Mommy got a bit discouraged today as Cameron was not reponding to her as much as he would normally do. But on a funny note, this morning Cameron decided to immitate a fountain and pee-ed all over the nurse and tech that was changing him as well as all over the bed and sheets and blankets. It seems that it is laundry time again, lol. Keep reading till I write again.
Wednesday, February 17, 2010 4:41 AM, CST
Okay, so yesterday and last night was a bit diappointing and dishearting about the factor that we are not able to go to Health Bridge. But it seems that Cameron is the only one that is taking things in stride, as he did a 4 hour C-PAP trial in the morning and had low CO2 (it was 69) and a 3 hour 15 min C-PAP trial and also had a low CO2 (it was at 67) and this morning the nurses drew a blood gas and his CO2 seems to be at 66. So it seems that he is doing well for the most part. Mandy and I spoke to the Pulmonologist (Lung Doctor, I think I spelled that right, lol.) and it seems that the plan is to ween him down to C-PAP and may be trach collar while he is at Hermann and possiblie go home from there if not able to go to Health Bridge at this time. According to the Doctor it is a very slow and long process at this time. So it seems that we will be living at Hermann CHildren's for a while, so to say. Although this is the case two good things have come out of this is that the sleepless nights that Mandy and I are experiencing now is just getting us ready for that sensation when we go home with Cameron, and the fold out chair and the window bench are not as uncomfortable as it seems. Which leads me to think that it may be time to replace our own mattress at home, lol. Well that is all for now. Keep reading till I write again.
Tuesday, February 16, 2010 10:28 AM, CST
Well I just wanted to up date everyone and let you guys know that Cameron will not be moving to Health Bridge today. As it seems we have an insurance snafu and now we can not go yet. It seems that we will have to stay here at Hermann Children's for a little longer while the doctors and the treatment team work out a plan. Keep reading till I write again.
Tuesday, February 16, 2010 7:30 AM, CST
Today will be an exciting day for all of us especially for Cameron. As Cameron is celebrating his 8 month birthday today, he is getting a great birthday gift of moving out of Hermann Children's Hospital today and going back to Health Bridge Children's Hospital. So far Cameron has had a good day. Las night he die C-PAP trails and did really well and then he did the C-PAP trails on the LTV vent, a portable home bent and he did that for 2 hours and his CO2 stay with in his normal range. His CO2 was at 69. As we get ready for this transition over to Health Bridge I ask to all my prayer warriors out there to pray for us during this time and for The factor that Cameron stay at Health Bridge this time and not return back to Hermann Children's. Keep reading till I write again.
Monday, February 15, 2010 5:04 AM, CST
This morning it seems that Cameron is doing well and no new orders written by the Doctor so far. It seems that they will be re-doing the dressing over Cameron's IV lines this morning and weighing him at the same time. As soon as I get the weight I will post it here. This morning it seems that Cameron was just sleeping away and if you listen closely you can hear him snore a bit. Hmmmmmmm...... I wonder who he gets that from, lol. As yesterday, no changes at this time and I will post if more changes come about. Keep reading till I write again.
Sunday, February 14, 2010 10:50 PM, CST
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY, to every one from the Chan Family. Cameron had a good day today. He did real well on the home/transfer vent for one hour before the vent died due to loss of power from the battery and the staff could not find the plug to plug it into the wall. But will try again tomorrow. Also Cameron had some visitors, Aunt Sussan and Uncle Burt from next door came by and checked on him today and Cameron was just looking at them and smiling all around. No new changes at this time so everything is as they say staus quo. Keep reading till I write again
Saturday, February 13, 2010 11:17 PM, CST
Today was a good day for Cameron as he got visitors from Granmaja and his Favorite Uncle Boo. Cameron got to be held today for a long time and he seemed to enjoy it, although he did get a bit fussy beacuse he didn't have his paci. Also he cracked a few smiles for them both. Cameron is currently working on his C-PAP trials and doing real well acorrding to the nurses where his CO2 is staying the same or being reduced as he is working on his own a bit durring the C-PAP trials. As it seems we will be moving Cameron, hopefully to Health Bridge on Tuesday. And I know that tomorrow they will be trying him on the home vent for transport to Health Bridge. That is all for now, keep reading till I write again.
Friday, February 12, 2010 4:36 AM, CST
Yesterday was a great day for Cameron as Mandy was telling me that she was reading the book about how rainbows are made to Cameron and Cameron attempted to reach for the book and the rainbow on his own. This was one of the proudest moments as I heard that Cameron is starting to reach out to touch/try to touch things on his own with out physical prompting from either Mandy or I or even the staff at Hermann Children's. Also Mandy has taught Cameron how to put his paci into his own mouth by him self with the aid of the paci taped onto the beannie baby stuffed animal's face. And last night Cameron was able to demonstrate this to both a nurse and to me. No real change other than a vent rate settings change down to 15, and the Doctors had talked about C-PAP Trails again. What an exciting day. This is just the encouragement and reminder that, Mandy and I needed, "God is good all the time, and All the time God is good."
Thursday, February 11, 2010 4:12 AM, CST
Yesterday and last night was a good day for Cameron. He got held by Mommy and Daddy got to read to him his new books. Cameron especially liked the book about how a rainbow is made becuase of the pop up at the end of the story. Cameron just smiled as he was being read to. No real changes today other than a vent rate change to 18. The Doctors are still talking about moving Cameron on Monday or Tuesday, looks more like Tuesday, to Health Bridge again. Keep reading till I write again.
Wednesday, February 10, 2010 5:45 AM, CST
Yesterday was a good day for Cameron as he got to swing in his swing and have a jolly good time listening to and watching his Baby Einstein videos and music. Also Mandy and I got a nice treat, Becky P. from Bammel came by and brought us some good home cooked food. MMMM......... Let me tell you guys that was awesome, the spaghetti casserole was the best. Mandy and I have not really had home cooked food in a while, and it was something that seemed to help us rejuvenate the spirit and soul, and let us not forget our tummys as well. Other than that, after speaking to the nurse this morning it seems that Cameron had a good night and no new changes at this time. The only thing the Doctors are working on is trying to lower the vent settings as much as possible and get Cameron back to Health Bridge on Monday or Tuesday of next week. That is all for now, Keep reading till I write again.
Tuesday, February 9, 2010 4:41 AM, CST
Last night was the 1st night that both of us stayed with Cameron in his own room all night long during this stay. I think I can now begin to apprciate the long sleepless nights that most parents talk about, lol. Cameron had a good night. The nurse came in and checked on him through out the night and Mandy and I got to speak with the Doctors and treatment team. Per Dr. Cindy Johns it seems that Cameron is doing really well and that she thinks that he can go back to Health Bridge as early as tomorrow, and as late as next Tuesday. So as it seems that they, the Doctors are set on not moving him down on the vent to C-PAP, or even trach collar while at Hermann, but instead to look at letting Health Bridge do that part of it, and that is after Mandy and I both expressed concerns about that since he went over to Health Bridge and came back with in 48 hours. It seems that The Doctor and the treatment team believes that this is a long term process that could be better handled at Health Bridge, and does not seem to want to start the process here at Hermann. Other than that, Cameron's vent settings are being weened a bit and they moved the lasix to every other day while he still gets his diuretic daily. That's all for now. Good moring to all. I can't sleep so I'm up on my Black Berry making another entry. It seems that Cameron is doing well as he is adjusting to the new room and new enviorment. When I spoke to the nurse she said that Cameron seems to like the new room okay and that some of his labs came back some what skewed, so they are re-drawing up the labs to check and cross check again, because it could be a draw error. Also as it seems Cameron is getting fussy again with out his paci, boy oh boy, lol. Well I might as well get up and get ready for work. I'll blog again when I have more info and more time. Keep reading till I write again.

Today was a good day for Cameron as Grandma came by and saw Cameron again. Cameron was again sleeping and crying for his paci, boy did we start a bad trend here with the paci, lol. Then later that night, Cameron was finally moved to IMMU and has his own private room. But that also means that no more Ronald Mc Donald House. The hospital policy is that if we have a private room and we want to stay then we must stay in that room with Cameron. So for the next few days/weeks/months or so we will be camping out in Cameron's room. Although this is something we must do to be that close to Cameron as well as having beeing steped down is a good thing, as that means we are that much closer to going home, and Cameron is doing much better. Well good night for now and tomorrow we say good bye to the Ronald McDonald House rooms. Keep reading till I write again.

Today was an okay day for Cameron. We were told that Cameron was to be moved today to IMMU (Intermediate Medical Unit) unfortuatly he was not moved due to another critical care child needed that bed. So we await a bed for Cameron. Cameron was sleeping most of the day and did okay as far as the vent settings. I spoke to Dr. Mosquesta who stated that they will get a Health Bridge consult this up comming week and when they get Cameron back down to base line then they will talk about transfering Cameron out back to Health Bridge. The information that both Mandy and I were told about getting Cameron down to C-PAP or even trach collar while at Herman Children's seems to be something that the Doctors are telling us to apease us, but the reality is when I spoke to Dr. Mosqueta he said "That's what Health Bridge is for." So as it seems Hearmann Children's won't be weening Cameron down other than to base line and then off we go again to Health Bridge. This cycle seems to be just that a cycle and can be frustrating at times. If the Doctors have no intentions of stepping Cameron down then just say so, don't pacify us, because as it stands it's either that the Doctors are lying to us or that the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing senarrio. So enough venting for now. Keep reading till I write again.

Yesterday was a good day for Cameron and Mommy got to hold him for about 2 hours today. He seemed to be doing better until he didn't get his paci and then he started to make these mad pouty faced and cry. Then the paci had to come to the rescue. This morning the nurse reports that the Doctors made no changes currently and that they are looking at moving Cameron across the hall to the IMMU, which is a step down from the critically ill to the less critical ill. The nurse then reported that is when the lung doctor will start weening his vent setting more aggressively and per Mandy get Cameron on Trach Collar before sending us to Health Bridge again. So it seems that we will be here at Hermann Children's 9th floor for a while. Keep reading till I write again.

Last night was an okay night for Cameron. He was resting per the nurse and also per the nurse over the last few days he had lost some weight down to the 9 lbs and some ounces, but as of this morning he looks a bit better and the nurse reports that his weight is back up to about 10 lbs and 1 ounce. Per Mandy Cameron was active today and smiling up at Mommy. So it seems that Cameron is starting to feel better. The nurse also reported that the only change so far is that the Doctor went down on his vent rate to 21. So it seems that now we are heading out of the woods and making some progress. When I get more information I will blog then. Keep reading till I write again.
Wednesday, February 3, 2010 5:58 AM, CST
Yestday was an okay day for Cameron. Mommy got to read and play with Cameron today and even sing to him as well. THe nurse reported this morning that he was awake most of the night so when I went to see him early this morning he was asleep and snoring away. (I wonder where he gets the snoring from, lol.) The nurse also reported no real changes in his status and no order changes at this time. The nurse also reported that they tried to lower the medicine that calms him down, called verseed ( I think that's how its spelled.) to .5 from 1 and then they did a blood gas afterwards and it was high in the 90's so they raised it back up to 1 again. The nurse stated that they may try it again later today. Thats all for now, Keep reading till I write again.
Tuesday, February 2, 2010 5:16 AM, CST
Last night was an okay night for Cameron as he was sleeping soundly from all the medications that they are giving him. Also he is maintaining the best that he can at this time. Cameron does look a bit puffy and swollen due to the IV fluids that they are giving him again, and he seems to be responding well to the abuteral treatments that now they have stoped the continuous abuteral treatment and now it is a t a schedual time. He is also being feed again via g-tube. We are still at the Ronald McDonald House and getting used to the hospital food again, lol. Keep reading till I write again.

Today seems to be starting off on a good note so far (fingers crossed). Per the nurse Cameron/s labs are looking good so far, and the the CO2 is now down to 51 and his O2 was just dropped to 55%. The nurse also reported that they went down on his abuteral for his treatment so far. Today Cameron will get an echo of his heart and that will determine, per the nurse and the doctor what is the next course of action. From what I can gather Cameron will be at Hermann Children's for a few more days to clear all of this up before returning to Health Bridge. As soon as I can I will post with the echo findings. Keep reading till I write again.
Sunday, January 31, 2010 6:50 PM, CST
Today has been an okay day for Cameron as he is being sedated alot to help him rest and not fight the vent settings at this time. As you can tell we are back and still at Hermann Children's again. Last night Mandy and I stayed at the Ronald McDonald House with in the hospital and will try to do the same tonight as well. Currently we are awaiting for the cultures to see if Cameron has an infection, but until then the Doctor has currently prescribed him an antibiotic to help as well as constant abuteral treatment. They have addjusted the vent settings accordingly, but they are some what high with his O2 starting out at 60%. Per the Doctor it seems that Cameron has Pulmanary Hpyer Tension, which is high blood pressure of the lungs in which the blood that carries the O2 to his lungs are not getting there. So they are using Versed to help Cameron calm down and keep calm as they work out a plan to help him maintain the O2 levels in his lungs. They have also given Cameron several treatments of lasix to pull any fluid that he may have around and on his lungs. Also they started Cameron back on a feeding schedual to keep his "gut" working at 8 cc's of Similac Sensitive 27 calories every hour. On a good note, Auntie Erin came by to see Cameron. That is all at this time. I will try to update when I have more info. Keep reading till I write again.
Saturday, January 30, 2010 11:21 PM, CST
Today started out as a good day for Cameron as uncle Danny came by and saw Cameron as well as Granmaja, Big Papa, and uncle Boo. Cameron slept most of the day and the nurses at Health Bridge came by and worked with him on his vent settings where they were raising his O2 due to the factor that Cameron needed more support. Then Cameron's CO2 was climbing into the 90s and tje nurse reported that they ended up bagging him. Then they said that they were going to transfer Cameron back to Hermann Children. So that is where we are now back in the same place where we started. Keep reading till I write again.

Today has been a okay day for Cameron. As he settles into his new bed and new place. Mandy and I are seeing a lot of ups and down with Cameron and the transition. Both Mandy and I are struggling as we get use to Health Bridge and I have to say the hardest thing for me to get used to is that there are very few beeps and blips of different machines. The staff here seem to be very nice and very caring, but it is a slower paced atmosphere as they work with Cameron. I will update when I lnow more. Keep reading till I write again.

Today was a busy day for all of us. A I took the day off to help with the move. Today Cameron got moved to Health Bridge. It took a while from the stand point of getting all the things together from the Hermann Children's side as well as from the Health Bridge side. Mandy got to ride with Cameron and I followed on the way to Health Bridge. Cameron did great on the ride over and for the 1st time, Cameron got to see the outside and the sun as it peered over the hospital building as he was loaded up and being secured for the ride. Currently he is having a difficult time settling down as we all are with this new transition.
As Mandy, Cameron and I close this chapter and start a new one, we want to thank all of our family, friends, and prayer warriors and we want to ask for everyone to pray for us all, as we continue this journey. Keep reading till I write again.Wednesday, January 27, 2010 4:45 AM, CST
Yesterday was a hard day for all of us as Cameron was put onto a new type of vent for transport and he needed to be able to stay on this vent for a total of 6 hours but he was only able to do it close to 5 hours (4 hours and 40 min to be exact). And the reason for this is because his CO2 was climbing up high into the 90's in which was not good for Cameron. Due to this Cameron will not be transported to Health Bridge tomorrow as we thought, and also we are still awaiting to hear back from the insurance company on the final approval for the transport and inpatient admition into the Health Bridge program. After the new vent trial Cameron's Co2 did come down through out the night into the 40's and 50's when he was put back onto the regular vent with his O2 settings around 37% to 40%. Right now there are no changes from the Doctors at this time. When I get more info I will update then. Keep reading till I write again.Tuesday, January 26, 2010 6:43 AM, CST
Yesterday and last night was a good night for Cameron as Mandy was able to hold him a couple of times. Also the nurse reported that Cameron was alseep when I called this morning and that there was no changes and no new orders last night. Currently Cameron is weighing in at 10 lbs and 6 ounces and mesuring at 21 inches with a head circumfrence of 14 and 1/2 inches. As we wait for the the transfer to Health Bridge we received a letter from our insurance carrier reporting to us that they are in need of some more information from the hospital before they can approve the move to Health Bridge so now we will talk with the team at Hermann to see what is the next step. Keep reading till I write again.
Monday, January 25, 2010 5:02 AM, CST
So far today seems to be a good day for Cameron as the nurse reported how Cameron slept through the night most of the time. Also that his O2 settings have stayed stable at 34%. THey will get a blood gas this morning around 8 am and will see what the Doctors would like to do durring rounds. Keep reading till I write again.

Mandy and I went to visit Cameron and he looked good. I got to hold Cameron tonight for a bit and Cameron was trying to find his thumb and then he fell asleep before we had to put him back into the crib for his next feedings. No real changes from the doctors at this time other than what I have blogged about this morning. When I get more info I will write then, so Keep reading till I write again.

Today has been a good day for Cameron so far. The nurse told Mandy that Cameron weighs 10 lbs and 2 ounces. Also the doctors rounded already and the only changes are that they raised his feeds to 69 cc's. Also they lowered the abuteral treatments to 5 puffs instead of 10 puffs. We will visit Cameron later today and will update then. Keep reading till I write again.

Today has been a good day for Cameron. Mandy got some news from Cameron's nurse who told Mandy that Cameron may not go to Caring Bridge this up comming week and this is due to the factor of it just pending Caring Bridge getting in touch with the doctor and work out the transfer. We went to visit Cameron and Cameron was in his swing fighting going to sleep. Keep reading till I write again.

*Note from Pete to everyone who reads these... sorry I was in the process of moving to Virginia for a NEW JOB! So, I didn't get the chance to update but I am back!*
Last night was a good night for Cameron as per the nurse he slept through most of the night. The nurse reported that his O2 settings stayed about the same at around 28% and sating at about 93. The only orders currently was that of his feeds went up to 67 cc's every 3 hours. Also Health Bridge did come out and assess Cameron and they are willing to accept him into their facility and they are wanting to move him next week.SO as wee are getting ready for a new chapter in our journey with Cameron I ask all my prayer warriors out there to continue praying for Cameron as we transistion to Health Bridge soon and the home. Keep reading till I write again.Thursday, January 7, 2010 5:01 AM, CST
Yesterday and last night was a much better day for Cameron. Mandy got to hold Cameron twice yesterday and Cameron seemed to like being held and rocked. The last blood gas was around 5 pm yesterday at which time it showed that Cameron is getting better and that the CO2 was at 50 and the Ph was at 7.5. When I called this morning the nurse reported that the vent settings have come down some where his rate is at 45 and the O2 is at 33. They did start the antibiotics just incase Cameron did have an infection, and all the test so far shows some signs of this. The nurse also reported that Cameron was awkae most of last night just looking around and that this morning he isbeing fussy, as it seems he wants his paci. Keep reading till I write again.
Wednesday, January 6, 2010 5:39 AM, CST
Last night was not a good night for Cameron at all. Per the nurse his CO2 kept climbing though out the day getting up in the 100's and the doctor and the nurse reported that they kept increasing his vent settings and the C-PAP trials are currently on hold until we find out what is going on. The nurse reported that they sedated him and gave him lasix to help him if he had any fluid on his lung area. Also the doctor and the nurse saw in the chest x-ray that the trach was placed way to low and it was not getting Cameron the Oxygen enriched air that he needed, so the RT came in and adjusted this and the following x-ray showed that the trach was placed in the right spot. Then the next two blood gasses showed some improvement where the CO2 was slowly dropping down to 105. Then this morning when I called the nurse reported that his CO2was climbing again and it was back up at 113. The nurse also reported that the doctor had ordered that they start Cameron on some IV antibiotics just incase of an infection and they also drew a blood culture to see the infection if there is one. Currently it is a wait and see about the infection. I will update when I find out more info. Keep praying for Cameron and keep reading till I write again.
Tuesday, January 5, 2010 6:12 AM, CST
Last night was not a good night for Cameron. Cameron started to desat last night that the nurse reported that they had to give extra abuteral treatments to Cameron and increase his O2 on the vent settings going up in the high 40's. THe nurse reported that Cameron had experienced some of this yesterday and into the night where they had done an chest x-ray yesterday, and will do another chest x-ray today to see where the problem may be. The nurse reported that becuase of his CO2 has been high that may be we are pushing to hard on the C-PAP trials currently and Cameron is letting us know that. As Mandy and I journey through yet another roller coster ride, please pray for Cameron. Keep reading till I write again.
Monday, January 4, 2010 6:33 AM, CST
As of this morning it seems that Cameron has had a really good night, up and looking around and then back to bed again. Today was a good day for Cameron. I got to hold Cameron for about 3 hours as he was sleeping and being feed. Mandy got to change Cameron's diaper and Cameron wasn't finished and he decided to pee on Mandy. Cameron also had a visitor, Ganmaja came by today to check on Cameron unfortunatly Cameron was asleep and it seemed that any little disturbance would wake him, as I found out when I took a half fallen paci out from his lips and Cameron then started to pout and cry. The Doctor came by and he increased the amount of cc's per every 3 hours for feeds and also the Doctor reported that he will increase the C-PAP trials from 3 hours to 3 and 1/2 hours twice a day, meaning a total of 7 hours where Cameron will be breathing on his own with very little support from the vent. Keep reading until i write again.
Friday, January 1, 2010 10:45 PM, CST
2010 began with a bang, as Cameron is doing well so far, no vent changes as his CO2 has been high in the blood gases over the last few days, yet his entitle volume checks have been good. The Doctors have decided to leave Cameron alone with the 3 hour C-PAP trial twice a day at this point, to not over work him. The Doctor mentioned that we will all meet sometime next week to make some definate plans as far as moving him to HealthBridge to continue his care. At this point we will continue on with his current regiment of daily checks, trials, and lab work. Keep reading till I write again.

Also Mandy and I toured the possible step down program called HealthBridge Houston. Keep reading till I write again.

Today Cameron is having a good day so far. Currently he measures at 19 inches long and weighs about 8 lbs - 4.6 ounces. His current CO2 level is at 73, while his O2 is sitting at 25, and the nurse reports this is normal at this time as he is trying to work on breathin on his own and that he will retain a bit more CO2 until Cameron works it out with breathing on his own. The nurse also reports that he has had a good night and that he has had no spit ups all night long durring the feedings. Mandy and I will go and visit Cameron later today. Keep reading till I write again.

They dropped the rate from 17 to 15, and will be reducing the t-volume through out the next few days to hopefully get Cameron to C-PAP trials and then to C-PAP soon. They also incresed the feeds today. Cameron was working with PT (Physical Therapy) today and while sitting up Cameron was able to turn his head from center to right and back to cneter as well as center to left and back. Today Cameron had an okay day, per the nurse he is currently looking actively at his mobile, probably dreaming about the fishes on the mobile. Maybe one day Cameron can go scubadiving with me. Mandy signed the consent for Cameron to have another surgery for the G-Tube to be put in so that he can be feed by the G-Tube and not the NG-Tube so that he can have his throat heal a bit. The surgery is schedualed for Friday at this time. The nurse reported that Cameron did get his 6 months vacine shots, and the doctor changed his blood gas to only Monday and Thursday's.There are no current vent changes for Cameron at this time. Keep reading till I write again.

Today has been a good day for Cameron as he had Auntie Erin come by and she got to hold Cameron today. Cameron has been doing well that they have been lowering his pressure support some for him on the vent settings. We also was told that Cameron's PH probe test came back with good results of a negative findings of reflux. Which mean that they will be moving on to the next step of looking at another surgery this week or early next week to put in the G-tube to help feed Cameron since he is not sucking, swallowing, and breathing good enough to be bottle feed, per Mandy, as per the nurse. Keep reading till I write again.Monday, December 14, 2009 8:07 PM, CST
Today Mandy called me and told me that Cameron was doing well and that matter of fact he decided to give Mandy another birthday present as he pee'ed and pooped onto Mandy today. The nurse reported that the doctors finally took the PH probe to their lab to do the readings and so hopefully we will have the results soon. The nurse also reported that Cameron is weighing in at 8 lbs and 6 ounces. They lowered his feeds back down to 58, becuase Cameron is having alot of dirty diapers in which is creating a diaper rash problem, so they are trying to work on that. Also the nurse reports that Cameron is doing well on the vent that they lowered the pressure settings from 11 to 9 and they increased his daily dose of antibiotic, Bactruim. Mandy did tell me that the arm where Cameron had an IV burn was healing up some. That is all for now and I understand that tomorrow Cameron will be having a special visitor. Keep reading till I write again.Saturday, December 12, 2009 11:27 PM, CST

Friday, December 11, 2009 10:24 PM, CST
Today Cameron had a visitor. Mandy's friend Karena came by to see you Cameron. It seems that Cameron is doing fine. The nurse informed us that they incersed his feeds to 56 cc's. After taking a look at Cameron's arm it seems to be getting better yet it still looks like the welps are still there and the nurse reported that there might be some scaring due to this incident, of what the nurse reports as an "IV Burn" because the nurse would not listen to Mandy's concern about the IV that was in his arm. The nurse also reported that plastic surgery may need to come in to give Cameron some treatment depending if there is a need for it. The vent settings are starting to be lowered at this time. Keep reading till I write again.
Thursday, December 10, 2009 7:33 PM, CST
Well not much has changed for Cameron today. The nurse and Mandy told reported that the IV had infiltrated, so that means that all the tpn and fluids that he was getting had leaked out and now is in his tissues, and they had just caught it today even though Mandy had told them something looked funny with the IV the day before. They nurse reported that they have given him several injections with meds to help with thay although they did the injection sites are now red and have welts on his arm. On a good note this forced the issue of Cameron being on full feeds. So now Cameron is no longer on IV fluids but at 46 cc's of formula. The nurse also reported that they figured out why Cameron was spitting up/vomitting his formula, and it seems that the nurse and the doctors had given Cameron too much Calcium in his formula. Also the vent setting have gone down a bit in the pressures so that is a good step forward towards possible C-PAP soon. Also they will be doing an reflux test on Cameron soon to determine if Cameron will need another surgery called a "fundoligation" (I think that is how it is spelled.) where they take part of the intestense and loop it around the esophagus to help create a constriction to be able to hopefully not allow the food to come back up causeing the reflux, and currently Mandy and I are faced with yet another possible surgery for that and possibly a G-Tube for his feedings. Well that is all for tonight. Keep reading till I write again.

Today Mandy and I visited Cameron and it seems that he looked puffier than normal, per the nurse possible fluid build up. Other than that Cameron seemed to be resting well. The nurse indicated that there were no changes currently to the vent settings, but the Doctor did increase Cameron's feeds to 40 cc's. Then Cameron woke up from his slumber and Mandy got to change two poopy diapers and bathe him. I got to work with Cameron on teaching him how to hold on to things such as one of his soft rattles. Tonight Cameron seemed to have fun with us. Keep reading till I write again.Tuesday, December 8, 2009 1:10 AM, CST
Today Cameron was doing well. Cameron had a very special visitor today. Santa came by and saw Cameron today. Also the nurse informed us that they decreased his TPN and LIPIDS twice today and increased his feeds, with the hopes of getting Cameron on full feeds by tomorrow to be able to discontinue the TPN and the LIPIDS. They also will be discontinuing his antibiotics of Vacamyacin today after he recieves his last dose. Mandy found out that the factures that Cameron has in his ribs are mini factures due to lack of Calcium. We met with the Nuerologist today and they explained to us what they are seeing in the brain scans which is not that great. Which leads me to the questions why do doctors have to be so negative about things? Is it a particular class they have to take in Med School that teaches them to be so grim with the facts and for lack of better words non compationate at times. These questions I ponder on as I write this and look ahead to trying to figure out "What do I do next?", "Where do I go next with Cameron?", and "What else should I do to help Cameron and Mandy?" I know these are all questions that I will find answers to in time, but I know that my impatience is getting the better of me. Well as I get ready for bed, good nite all, Good nite Cameron, Mommy and Daddy loves you. :)
Monday, December 7, 2009 8:18 PM, CST
Today Cameron had a very eventful day. Cameron was taken down to have another MRI done and the results will be told to us tomorrow. Also the nurse informed Mandy that Cameron has a fractured rib currently and is breathing harder than normal. Other than that Cameron is doing okay today. Keep reading till I write again.
Sunday, December 6, 2009 6:34 PM, CST
Today Mandy and I visited Cameron and got to see RT change out his trach to a longer tach to help Cameron breath better. And it seems to have worked because his CO2 went down to the 50's, which is better than before. Mandy and I also got to learn how to bag Cameron if needs be so that we can better understand how to care for Cameron. Cameron looked tired and seems to be doing well as he sucked on his paci and held it in his mouth by himself. Keep reading till I write again.
Sunday, December 6, 2009 7:15 AM, CST
I just got done calling the nurse this morning and it seems that Cameron is still sleeping so far. The nurse reported that the night nurse reported to her that Cameron woke up later in the night and was just looking all around and was awake most of the night so he'll sleep most of the day today. Wow it seems that Cameron is now following the sleeping pattern of a true new born wake up durring the night and sleep durring the day, LOL. The nurse reported that the blood gas done this morning at 6 am was good and the PH is at 7.49, CO2 is at 46 and the O2 is at 22. Cameron's current vent setting are, O2 at 24%, rate of 30 , title volume at 30 with a peep of 7 and pressure at 15. Currently the nurse reported that he is stable and sating at 95. It seems that Cameron is doing well this morning. Keep reading till I write again.
Saturday, December 5, 2009 9:10 PM, CST
Today Cameron, you had a lot of visitors from Granmaja, and Big Pappa, and Nana. They all came to visit with you today and we all sat down with the Doctor and NP today to talk about Cameron's situation and his current development and the Doctor's idea of what Cameron's future outcome might look like. At this time they have taken Cameron off of the Morphine and they had to stick him several times to get a new IV in his left arm, because Cameron, the little stinker, pulled out his other IV. It also seems that when we saw Cameon that the vent settings were very low as his O2 was at 21% which is the same amount of O2 that is in the air that we breath currently. The nurse reported that they did change out his trach due to the factor that he might have had a small leak in the trach and the skin because he seemed to out grow the trach, and Mandy was the first to notice the noise and point it out to the nurses about this. It seems that changing out the trach is doing the job because his blood gases are comming back better with a lower CO2. The nurse also told us that Cameron is on a rate setting of 30 and a title volume of 30 and sating in the 90's. The current weight is 8 pounds and 4 ounces, but some of that may be due to the factor of being on the TPN and LIPIDS and fuild weight gain, but that will all change soon as they have started feeds for him today and over the next few days, hopefully the TPN and LIPIDS will go away. Keep reading and I will update in the morning.
Thursday, December 3, 2009 10:13 PM, CST
Today Cameron did not have that great of a day. The nurse reports that Cameron's CO2 came back from the blood gass on the high end and that they needed to correct this by increasing the vent settings so Cameron's rate went up and his O2 requirements also went up. They are also giving him more Morphine to help Cameron compensate with the pain. Other than that the Doctors made no other changes on him. I'll update more when I get more information. Keep reading till I write again.Wednesday, December 2, 2009 10:15 PM, CST
Today has been a good day for Cameron. He was awake and looking around even after surgery. The nurse reported that they lowered the rate and his O2 requirments. The nurse also reported that Cameron is resting well and there are no changes at this time, just allowing Cameron to heal up and rest from the surgery. So far so good. Good nite everyone. Sleep well Cameron, Moomy and Daddy loves you.
Tuesday, December 1, 2009 11:38 PM, CST
I just got word that Cameron came out of the surgery well. He is on 50% O2 and sating at 98 continuously. Cameron's blood pressure is at 93/43 (61). He is still under the anesthesia and will get some morphine for the pain. The surgeons went in and repaired two hernia sites. He has two small incision sites, but seems to be resting well. I will update with more when I know. Keep reading till I write again.

Today has been a good day for Cameron. Cameron learned today how to hold his own paci in with a paci doll. Also Cameron had a good day per Mandy. The nurse and the Doctors report negative blood cultures and that surgery is set for tomorrow morning at 7:30 am if the next following blood cultures come back showing no more infections. Calling all Prayer Warriors out there, please pray for Cameron and the Doctors that will be tending to him as well as for Mandy and I for strength as we head toward tomorrows surgery. I will update as soon as I can. Keep reading till I write again.Sunday, November 29, 2009 7:59 PM, CST
Today has been a good day for Cameron. Mandy and I visited Cameron and was surprised as the nurse directed Mandy and myself in a new way to hold Cameron to help promote Cameron's development of holding his head up. So Mandy and I did as was told and Cameron liked this position as he started to fall asleep in our arms. So far it seems that Cameron will be slated for the hernia surgery on Tuesday if all is well with the infection and it is under control. That is all for now. Keep reading till I write again.
Saturday, November 28, 2009 6:07 PM, CST
Today Mandy and I Visited Cameron and he seemed very happy as he was very aley as Mandy played peek a boo with Cameron. We were told that Cameron now also has another infection in his blood and they raised his peesires on the vent from 13 to 15 due to the extra support needed. Also they will be possibly schedule the surgery on Tuesday not Monday depending on the status of the infections. Although this is truel Cameron seems to be doing okay. Good nite for now. Keep reading till I write again.
Friday, November 27, 2009 9:25 PM, CST

Happy Thanksgiving eveyone. With love Cameron and family.
Wednesday, November 25, 2009 11:12 PM, CST
Tonight we celebrated Cameron's Uncle KK's birthday and Christmas because Kevin will be going soon back to military life and to Afganistan (I think that's how you spell it.), and Cameron missed all the fun and festivities.Cameron would have had fun with the rest of everyone. Today the nurses told Mandy that Cameron's lab work came back showing he has an infection and that the surgeons will consider surgery maybe early next week if the infection subsides and all. Other than that Cameron has his ups and downs today. In getting ready for Thanksgiving tomorrow I am reminded of an old Sunday school class I had growing up looking at what are we all thankful for. In this class I had a very good friend, Joshua who would always say that he was thankful for his family and the love his family showed him. I never understood that as a child but now I can see what Joshua was saying. Tonight and tomorrow as we celebrate Thanksgiving, Mandy and I would like to say thank you to all of our family and friends and the community that have and is continuing to support and show your love to us and Cameron in situation. God is good all the time and All the time God is good. Have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone.Tuesday, November 24, 2009 10:19 PM, CST
Today has been not so good for Cameron as he continues to jump all over the place, sometimes he was stable and other times he would de-sat. The nurses and the doctors believe that Cameron has yet another infection and Cameron has been running a slight fever on and off. The nurses and Doctors did some blood work and ran some of their ussual lab work but no word on their results yet. Currently Cameron is resting and on some antibiotics. Will update when have more info.Monday, November 23, 2009 8:46 PM, CST
Today was supposed to be the day for Cameron's surgery to repair the hernia, yet the doctors and surgeons told us no srugery today. Also today Cameron got a great surprise for his Uncle KK (Kevin) came by and saw Cameron for the first time and also held Cameron. Cameron had a wonderful day and seemed to have liked being held by Uncle KK. More to come in the next few days.
Sunday, November 22, 2009 9:50 PM, CST
Today has been an okay day for Cameron. Today Mommy and Daddy came by and visted Cameron today with Grandma and Bill. Cameron was doing well and he was awake and his eyes were open and just looking all around. Mandy and I did get a chance to talk with surgery today and it seems that the reason that his stomache is distended so much is due to a blockage from an inguanal hernia and part of his small intestinse has become trapped in the hernia area and Cameron will be going in for surgery tomorrow to repair this and hopefully fis the blockage. To all my prayer warriors out there, please pray for wisdom and a healing hand for the doctors and surgeons and peace for our family as we go for Cameron's 5th surgery. I will update tomorrow as things are happening. Good nite all. Good nite son.
Saturday, November 21, 2009 10:49 PM, CST
Tonight Momy and I came by to see you and spoke to the covering doctor and it seems that you do need the surgery son. Again they will have to do surgery to correct the hernia that part of you intestinse is falling into which is hurting you, and where we are seeing the results by you distended stomache. I know son that you don't want to go through yet another surgery and neither do Mommy and Daddy, yet we also understand that this seems to be needed for you to get better. Soon enough you will be free from all this. Tonight you look good son, and you were pouting hard for your paci and Mommy gave it to you and you settled down just fine. It seems that the paci will be your new best friend. Know that Mommy and Daddy love you very much. Good nite son.Friday, November 20, 2009 8:44 PM, CST
Today has been just a waiting day for Cameron as we wait to hear back from the doctors what is going on with the x-rays and all. It seems that we have a slight understanding that there may be another surgery that is needed. Tonight Cameron seems to be doing well and he had a vistor, Auntie Erin came by and saw you with Mandy. From my understanding Cameron is doing well and they are still keeping him NPO (no feeds) at this time and have him on IV fluids. Other than that all seems good. Good news Cameron soon you will get a special visit from a very special Uncle. Good nite son.

To all my prayer warriors out there please pray for Cameron as he under goes yet another test tomorrow. Keep reading till I write again.

Today was Cameron's 5 month Birthday. Cameron had an okay day today as he had an eventful day. Cameron had to go down to radiology today to get a berry enama for the abdominal CT to see if there is a blockage due to his tummy being so big. Cameron did really well with this. Cameron also got his O2 requirements down to around 22 - 21 % which we all breath about 21 % O2. The doctors and nurses also informed us that they lowered his rate to 25 and the pressure is still at 29. So far Cameron is sleeping well. Good nite all, Good nite Cameron.
Sunday, November 15, 2009 2:47 PM, CST
Today has not been a good day for Cameron. Cameron did get a visitor today, Auntie Erin came by and Cameron was taking a paci from Erin. Cameron's tummy is still distended and the nurses and Dr. Nawab are still concerned about this so they got an x-ray of his tummy and they said it still concerns them that it may be yet another infection, so they are giving him an IV currently to be able to give Cameron some IV antibiotics. They are also drawing up some lab work to see if there really is an infection or not. On a better note, Cameron is doing well on the vent settings curently. Keep reading till I write again.

Today was a good day as we celebrated with friends, family, volunteers, and donors who made the Cameron Chan Benifit possible. I would like to thank all that came out and those that could not make it. This has been an amazing journey with Cameron, but also I have seen all the love that our friends, family and the community has for us and our son. As I continue to say, Good is good all the time, and all the time God is good. We went to visit Cameron tonight with Paula, and Cameron looked good. His belly was a bit extended and they took some x-rays and it seems that Cameron has gas in his belly. Other than that he is doing well, and his O2 requirements have been low in the 20's. Tonight Cameron was awake and just looking around, and around, especially for his fishes on the mobile. Today has been a good day for all. Good nite all. The RT's have checked the trach and they don't think its a trach problem. The nurses and doctors believe that Cameron has gotten another infection, and is currently on some antibiotics. We got a phone call from the N&P who reported to us that they will hold the C-PAP trails today because Cameron is not getting enough air into his lungs and after their x-ray it shows that part of the lungs on both sides have sightly collapsed. Due to this they don't want to stress Cameron out any more so they will give Cameron an albuteral treatment and CPT as well. After that Cameron seems to be resting well. Today was a big day for Cameron as he went down to the OR and had his throat looked at and it seems that his throat muscles are not strong enough to maintain his air way open as the flap will close so quickly and Cameron can not open it by himself. So the doctors went ahead and operated on Cameron and inserted a trach tube into his throat to help him. Currently Cameron is stable and will stay very sedated as they allow him to heal up and rest. That is all for now. Good nite everyone. Good nite son, Mommy and Daddy loves you very much.

Twiggy's Photoshopped Olay ads banned in England
editor by Jennifer Romolini, Shine staff
Perhaps we should start calling 2009 the year of the airbrush. The latest Photoshop scandal involves not an emaciated model nor a bizarrely-retouched actress on the cover of a fashion magazine, but instead a 60-year-old icon with not enough crows' feet for anyone's liking.
Let's catch you up: Last summer, beauty company Olay debuted its Definity eye cream campaign depicting model Twiggy looking far younger, smoother, and firmer than her then 59 years should suggest. The '60s fashion star appeared virtually wrinkle-free in the ads and, since her baby-faced visage was selling anti-aging cream to older women, quite a few people—including bloggers, news outlets, and the British Parliament—grew quite disturbed.
In August, British lawmakers called for a ban on the digitally altered ads, suggesting they mislead the public. And, in the ensuing months, the U.K's Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) received hundreds of complaints from the public, claiming the Olay images were "socially irresponsible" and could have a "negative impact on people's perceptions of their own body image, " The Guardian reports.
Finally, yesterday, the ASA banned the complete set of Olay Twiggy ads, ruling that the post-production retouching could give consumers a "misleading impression of the effect the product could achieve."
You think?
In the ads, Twiggy says, "Olay is my secret to brighter-looking eyes" and "Because younger-looking eyes never go out of fashion...[it] reduces the look of wrinkles and dark circles for brighter, younger-looking eyes."
However, since Olay admits to "minor retouching" around Twiggy's eyelid area (essentially wiping out any indication of undereye darkness, bags, and fine lines), we know the cream is not really her secret. Instead it's a skilled computer technician, which is something you just can't bottle and sell for $23.89. Nor is this "secret" available to most women. Honestly, it's refreshing that, with the banning of these ads, finally someone is saying just that.

I am sure many of you have this video before I know I have posted it before but this pretty much sums up what I am trying to get people to see. The images in magazines are not real! I wish people would stop trying to look like that in real life. Girls who don't eat to try and be pretty like the magazines are doing major harm to their own bodies and no you don't hotter just because we can see your bones. Why can't people just be happy in their own skin? If you are losing weight to be healthier fine *I am losing weight because I am obese and diabetic and I want to be healthy*. But I am also doing it the right way, eating healthier and I know it will take a few years. In 2008 I dropped 50lbs, went from 330lbs to 280lbs. In 2009 I leveled off and have gone up and down from 285lbs to 276lbs. I am going to have to start working out again if I want to reach my goal of wearing size 38 pants and being closer to my goal weight of 180 - 210lbs. My real goal is to wear 38 inch pants again and by losing enough weight get off all of my diabetic medication. No so I can look hotter.

It is by will alone...
It is by will alone I set my mind in motion. It is by the juice of sapho that thoughts acquire speed, the lips acquire stains, the stains become a warning. It is by will alone I set my mind in motion.
